HW News - NVIDIA's Reality Distortion Field, RIP E3, Intel 144-Core CPU
video description
So I suspect that in 2024-2025, when Nvidia releases the RTX 5000 series of cards, we won't see much of a performance boost over the last generation. Meanwhile, AMD might be able to boast a much larger improvement, making their newer cards more appealing, and potentially swaying people towards team red.
I'm not an expert in this field and this is not an analysis without flaws, but take that as you will.

'Crypro is bad' is just another marketing volte face to suck up to a new market. AI itself is already a lowering market (at least for the current audience here; consumer users running stable diffusion etc on a gaming desktop) because the memory and requirements are actually going DOWN as time goes on, not rising.
Use of flags (such as --xformers) and optimizations (such as using a matched vae to increase your model's low level details rather than brute force 'more render iterations') are making older hardware work better as time goes on, not worse... so less need for upgrades. Oh, and most common libs don't even use the max memory of something like a 4090 for generative AI. It tops out around 12GB, so some upgrades are actually wasted money!
NVidia are basically trying to reap gains from open source CUDA, which is their hat trick against AMD/Intel. Almost all AI works out of the box for NVidia as CUDA is 'the open source default for AI'. ANB/Intel can be made to work, but you spend days patching it to get it working out of the box, and then its fingers crossed for every git pull, as patch hell usually restarts right there!

10:33 I don't believe for one second AMD could compete with Nvidia on the same fab/size silicon. Not even in rasterization. Not in performance per watt or frames per second.
I mean, they could absolutely scale their GCD up to the size of a RTX 4090 die, but that's not the same thing as putting it all on that same amount of silicon.
The RTX 4080 is the direct competitor for the 7900 XTX in all aspects and that's the reality of situation for AMD. They could have made a more powerful GPU, certainly, but would it even be competitive? It still won't have DLSS, frame generation, or more RT headroom. Why exactly would I buy it over a RTX 4090?

Nvidia in 3 years: AI is destructive to the creative industry and we do not support it's unethical use. Of course, the recent legislation on AI copyright and subsequent AI bubble crash are purely coincidental. Also, we are proud to be the leaders of DR (Diminished Reality), and believe in it's bright future as the replacement for prescription disassociates, with the introduction of digital opium. Stock price soars

I don't care about Nvidia's bullcrap now, my beef with them and AMD is lying to their supposed customers 9gamers) and selling by the crate to the supposed enemy(miners and scalpers), then using the jacked up prices to provide a reason to raise MSRP's to create massive profit margins. I still refuse to buy a new GPU, doesn't matter what they say, they flip flop worse than John Kerry running for president

For all their woes, NVIDIA has been working on AI workloads for years, namely, on both libraries, hw support and general just works , the effort I would prefer to see from AMD too. Their claims with AI are not unsubstantiated, which is kinda sad since we need more competition in consumer and prof. HW to drive prices down because RTX4090 and A/H100s right now are unmatched.

My 4090 doesn't even pull 400w most of the time. It really depends on what you play and what settings. These 40 series cards seem pretty damn efficient. I use my gpu with a 7700x at eco mode and while it's still using a lot of power relatively speaking, the total system draw isn't nearly as high as you'd expect for such a powerful gaming setup.

The CMA approved Activision Blizzard? Looking forward to the VirtualLegality take on this!
As a comment from that, the CMA actually said Nintendo is for casuals.
...wait, you just reported on the part that said they messed up the math, but kept the cloud gaming concerns... That's not an approval like the section is called.

I'm glad to hear that you are using a Framework laptop and covering the 16 inch model. I love my laptop and really hope the company keeps going. I'm going to get the 16 inch as soon as I can afford a new laptop. Will get an additional desktop at the same time with the Cooler Master case.

21:49 not long, MicroSoft stop supporting Windows 10, Steam announce again it stop supporting it also. Now you have expensive PC build so do you want move to Linux which not have all drivers or another Adware Mobile OS called Windows 11 what is worse than Windows 10

AMD just being sore market share loosers again, can't imagine nobody at AMD seeing that article with the wrong translation yet they let the missinformation ride untill called out...
But what do you expect from a company that started by bootlegging early Intel CPUs...

It's okay - once all social media removes all ways of sorting content by time and makes it impossible to find anything that doesn't fit today's algorithm's needs, we won't have to hear about any of those uncomfortable inconsistencies from major companies anymore.

I don t have a dog in the race as I haven t played an Activision game in over 10 years. The whole dlc at full retail price got tiresome but I wouldn t be surprised if they made it exclusive. They did with all the Bethesda titles. That s lost revenue surely

There is a AMD model with a better iGPU, I am hoping Davinci Resolve would recognise it though, else hopefully Intel 14th Gen iGPU which is based on Arc would do so. I have the 13 model too, but despite Iris XE being capable, I can't edit on it.
