Funny title however anyone with an IQ over 12 will automatically know Phanteks would be sued if they blatantly stole another company's IP and marketed it as their own. Lian li will have poured over this thing by now and if there was an issue you'd be seeing reports of measures and steps taken legally. It looks like a copy, freakishly so but apparently Lian Li isn't complaining so why are you Steve? Innovation is one thing, going with what works is entirely different and Corsair used that Case style 1st if you really wanna pick nits, all Lian li did was make the front glass as well because you know that's new right? Never been done before right? Innovation in case design is slowing because it's all been done in that form factor there really isn't much else folks could do. P. S. However because you Rock even though I give you some crap on occasion I offer you this challenge: 1> Instead of picking on case manufacturers for what you think THEY should do, I propose you design the perfect GN PC case and let all of us critique it. Fair is fair right? If they can; t get it right do it yourself is the olden day motto. I think it would be interesting to see you design something new, innovative and creative that no ones seen before. I'm certain I'd be one of the first in line to not only see that design but buy it as well. I'm sure one of the Case manufacturers would work with you on this idea and I will vote YES first in the petition.

BIG question: I have an Enthoo Evolv X. I put a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite in it a week ago finding that if I plug the RGB cable from the case marked Motherboard, the system won't turn on. It's literally the only thing keeping the system from turning on, as I can unplug that and it's fine. So, I go to Gigabyte's site and Phanteks's site and discover the Phanteks says the case is compatible with ASUS and MSI motherboards' RGB systems. I contacted both Phanteks and Gigabyte. Gigabyte never responded. Phanteks, to their credit, responded quickly and often. When asked directly why this is a problem, Phanteks claimed: Unfortunately the Evolv X is not compatible with Gigabyte motherboards. If you are having issues with it then we recommend to unplug it from the motherboard and use the case buttons to control your lighting. The reason is we found Gigabyte and Asrock motherboards seem to have it laid out differently where the 5v from the addressable header seems to continuously draw power when it's not suppose to or draw power improperly that can cause issues such as what you are experiencing. While they may be correct, I don't really understand this, since every other RGB product in my case from various vendors work just fine with the motherboard. Thoughts?

Hi Steve and the rest of the GN Team! I have a quick question about DDR4 Memory. Why is it that if you increase RAM capacity the clock speeds decrease. I was browsing on GSkill and Corsair's websites and I saw that for lower capacity RAM like 16 gigabyte sticks have insane clock speeds like 4800Mhz and then as the capacity of RAM increased with larger kits like 64gb, 128gb, and even 256gb meant for the new 3990x, the speeds decreased until the fastest ram was only 3200Mhz, which is relatively average in my opinion for DDR4. Why does this happen? Does having higher capacity ram decrease the clock speed, or do manufacturers just not make high clock speed and high capacity RAM? I guess having 256 gb of 4800Mhz RAM would be absolute insanity, but are those kits not manufactured because of physical limitations on clock speed or just a lack of demand for super high end RAM kits. Thanks

The Phanteks O11D clone is GOOD NEWS for consumers if Phanteks can offer it cheaper, IN STOCK and with some improvements. It's bad news for Der8aur and Lian Li as it will eat into their profits, but frankly they weren't keeping their Dynamic cases in very good stock a lot of the time so they bring it on themselves if customers flock to AVAILABLE options. I'm fine seeing the O11D copied and iterated upon until it's even better. Biggest issue being the weak foam tape holding the glass onto the railings which fasten the side panel onto the case. If anything presses up against that glass over time the glass will separate from the rails. Also there are no cable tie points on the bottom floor and it's likely possible to cram more stuff in the power supply chamber. Wider GPU waterblocks could not fit into the original O11D so hopefully Phanteks didn't copy that bad decision.

NUMA, Non-Uniform Memory Architecture is a design where different cores on a processor have different access to different memory. Usually slower access to memory controlled by core clusters farther from the current core cluster, but NUMA is any design in which the access is non-uniform. The Windows scheduler use a 64bit bitmask to control what logical core a process is allowed/should execute on. This means the scheduler can't give optimal results when there are more than 64 logical cores (often called threads colloquially. However, an application can create another Process Affinity Masks for some of its threads to work around this issue. Now the way NUMA is related is that ideally all threads belonging to a process are grouped on the same NUMA node, that group of threads is not itself a NUMA node.

We praise Larry for CC&P and crucify Phanteks for making a clone, hehe. I absolutely love Larry for his contribution, God rest. I can't remember how many thousands of lines of Java I plagiarized with it. I honestly think case companies are just running out of ways to regurgitate that same basic case over and over. Thermaltake is one of the few companies I know of who have a broad variety of unique ATX cases. That and awesome airflow have kept me coming back to the Core series. I liked the style of Lian Li and In Win but their prices have been ridiculous in the past (is In Win even around anymore. This next build I'll probably stick with my tried and true Thermaltake, and maybe try out a P3. Dust filters do jack sh t where I live anyway with the fine red clay dust in the air.

Full edit (waste of timing posting before I guess) Well that did not last long, anandtech reviewer did not update his test rig so it was seeing the threadripper as 2 sockets (the Pro, pro for workstation and enterprise still have 64 thread limit grouping, kinda like numa node but with out numa penalties like you get with the WX 2nd gen Thredripper or actual 2 socket systems) all that time he wasted on testing 3 different setups is mind blowing (I believe he was doing it on a older build of 1903 just because of it showing it as 2 sockets, as currant version of 1903 and 1909 has Thredripper support and shows it as one socket 64/128) so programs that don't support numa will still be limted to 64 thread groups no matter what version of Windows you use (unless it's Linux)

i was looking to buy DDR3 16gb sticks, for instance i wanted ddr3 16gbx4 to make 64gb (my mobo max RAM capacity, but i could not find any 16gb sticks for sale! 8gb seems to be the max. but with ddr4 i did notice 16gb individual sticks, is this the way it is? or does somewhere even sell 16gb ddr3 sticks? otherwise, perhaps it is not even possible with the current market to fully max my asrock mobo capacity, thats weird, but sort of odd too: D i didn't realise how weirdly limited the market seems

Hey Steve. Think i found a firmware bug on x570 motherboards. As you know many are reporting temperature problems. Brand new x570 unify + 3900x. Bios idle 39c. After cmos reset bios idle temps ramp until alarms and warnings come on. Something is going on with cmos resets. Re flashing has no effect. Temps in win rose from 45 c to 80c idle. Seeing this on many x570 boards. 300. 00 + versions. Can you investigate this?

It s obvious that Phanteks copied Lian Li, however, I will be purchasing the Qube in white. 1. It s a lot less 2. It s actually cleaner (no ROG/Der Bauer insignia) 3. Based on an excellent case that provides great options/features. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. You re absolutely right that Lian is getting ripped off. but the competition actually improved it aesthetically IMHO. Great vid as always.
