Not that component companies need an advocate but just to play Devil's Advocate for a moment here; Is it possible that this card is an example of whatever components AMD and board partners have left on hand and its release is an attempt to just get cards into the hands of consumers? I get that in business everything is financial and comes down to the money but in the absence of availability for mid and high end cards, the fact that they're putting anything out right now, with the component shortage being what it is, seems like a good thing.

As the modern high end graphics card essentially become unobtainable, people will turn to playing older titles, or titles that are graphically less demanding. And there's a shitton of older titles to play. Which may or may not end up meaning that those people who used to play newest titles and upgrade their machines to play newer titles simply stop upgrading. It's not like graphics cards die at the rate at which physical hard-drives used to die, unless certain title is involved.

What people dont realise is that for 1 and a half years, these companies had no product to sell. They still have engineers, production and many other people to pay, as well as property taxes, suppliers who also have to pay expenses so, they have to supply whatever they can to survive or, it's close your doors and go home time. It's still surprising that so many businesses are still alive. Did anyone check out the price of copper wiring recently? In two months, the prices have risen 200% Imagine silicon.

this gpu is essentially for mining. it is finally an uplift in hashrate/efficiency over the 4/580 for around the same price point that the secondhand market has been selling the 4/580. i think they just didnt want to market a mining only gpu this time around so they released something with outputs and capable of 1080p gaming. i figure a couple years from now we are gonna see these take the place that the rx 580 held (until recently) of the budget 1080p gpu that you can get used for a steal.

I guess, positively, that there were no driver problems (remember the 5600XT - I have one, getting it stable with the faster VRAM was a pain) with this launch. That's good, and I hope their driver team keeps up the good work when they release a mid-range card that we can actually justify on price and performance. Thanks for the humour, it helps when the unaffordable GPU releases continue. Still loving the large mod-mat.

As long as a consumer can flip the bought card immediately for a profit, the price is good value. This is how free market works. If consumers believies that the price is to high, they will stop buying graphics cards.
It is not a matter of life or death to be able to buy a GPU, just a first world luxury item.

I'm so glad I was able to get my 5700XT just before the GPU market went nuts, I just pray and cross everything that it continues to work cause the only other card I have spare is a HD7850.
This card needs to be at least 50 cheaper and ideally should be closer to 75 cheaper, I'm not impressed AMD.

Comment section i need your help. I got an i5-2400 with 1050ti. The 2400 isn't really cutting it anymore (its been an OK 10 years) Should i try to get a prebuilt with a 3060 or a 6600xt, or just buy new cpu motherboard and ram and keep using the Ti until things get better? I mostly just play FFXIV

ok, the value of this card sucks, so I'll wait until next gen of cards in 2022. When there will be another mining boom, scalpers will do their thing, the mrsrps of every card will still be hideous and Intel who has to bring competition will do exactly what the other two are already doing.

18:00 Steve says he was excited to see how these companies screw up the 50 series launch but honestly i am extremely doubtful that there will be 6500/6500xt or 3050/3050 ti (i am talking about desktop parts not laptop) i mean there was no rtx 2050 so I'm doubtful personally
