4 Dogs, 4 Guys Build a Longhouse Using Hand Tools and Natural Materials Bushcraft

handtools We return to the Native American longhouse with our four dogs, not sure whether the bark we harvested from dying ash trees earlier this summer will be still useable, not dried out and cracked and whether or not we collected enough to complete the primitive bushcraft shelter using hand tools and natural materials. The dogs continue to work out the hierarchy, Cali my Golden Retriever protecting her home territory from Bella, Buck and Finn, dog's belonging to Ted Baird, Jim Baird and Doug Linker. We are rained out for half a day and we spend that time cooking ribs in the forest kitchen and we end the day with hot chicken wings, fries and a bear roast for dinner cooked on the campfire

I have been watching a lot of this kind of video, and what I take away from it is what a revolution the Iron Age must have been. Imagine trying to build anything like this just using stone tools. I would love to see a video of someone doing just that. I sometimes imagine how it would be for, say, a few shipwreck survivors, washing up on an island with nothing but the clothes on their backs. How would you build a shelter of obtain food under those circumstances? A knife, an axe, a hand drill and a saw make such a huge difference.

I wonder how many trees were killed to obtain that much bark.
For a structure that will assuredly rot away from the elements seeing as none of the cambieum bearing materials are treated.
way to go through the steps of showing the right way of destroying the habitat for a temporary shelter and showing others how to do it too.

Neighbors looking after one another, an honest approach within a community, that, unfortunately, has been an experience of the glorious past, it's so rare nowadays, I congratulate you wholeheartedly, best wishes to all of you, dogs inclusive.

Love the work U guys do. As for me, though, I really believe Cali has the best of it all out there. It's clear she's smart. Also, easy to tell she loves being loved and has plenty to give in return. 2 THUMBS WAY UP!

Life seem so peaceful living like this. Hard work but peaceful. The modern society makes me throw up in my mouth a bit. Taking one step away from it ny moving to the fjords of Norway this year.
