Both plates looked really appetising and the aim was to produce a dish rather than follow a formula. That said the target was a full Irish/welsh/English/Scottish and as such, I would have at very least, liked someone to acknowledge that both participants crossed the Atlantic when they included hash-browns. Given the variety afforded by our 4 great nations, I for one would have preferred it, if the final dishes had, at least, sampled more from our own diversity. As it was there was definitely an opportunity missed, though thankfully, at least, there was no sign of any maple syrup!

Love the premise that a chef should be able to do more with less money. But WOW! Quite the disparity. In the States, a profitable restaurant s food cost should be less than 33%. James is working with 16. 7%. (Burrowing into a warm blanket on the couch to see how this plays out)

I have a theory: I think the reason Jamie isn't winning as often is because he is an exceptional cook and the trained chefs expect more from him. I think Jamie is as close to an actual chef as a normal gets. The other normals, while lovely and talented, aren't on the same level.

Lol the shock of Barry and Mike when Jamie put mustard in the baked beans made me laugh. Growing up, mustard, brown sugar and minced onions were always added to baked beans. I still make it that way and so does one of my sons. It's delicious.

Jamie showed that when you buy expensive produce you can make incredible food just by not ballsing it up and James showed how building flavour can transform dishes whether it be a full English or not

Fry up should NOT include an oven should all be pan fry also no soda bread or potatoe bread used should be called a full English challenge cause a fry up is something different
