Sammy boy, same tooth thing happened to me except I was talking with a bunch of folks and it dropped out! I managed to catch it. Long story short, my dentist sent me pretty immediately to get the implant. He cleaned out all the junk, another guy drilled a pilot hole in my bone, they screwed in a post, 3-4 months later I got the crown. Lemme tell you, it was the most solid tooth I have ever felt I just can not wiggle it at all. That was more than 20 years ago, still solid as a rock. Just you wait!

Forgot to put the word Baja in front of this this Baja California clam chowder!
I hope the chorizo did not ruin it. But then again it wasn't real chorizo it was soy chorizo. That can sometimes be better than actual real chorizo, at least the real low quality low-grade chorizo which is nothing but oil that covers the flavor of everything Burned black food bits turn to carbon, charcoal bitterness and cancer-causing agents is never flavor!
It's trying to cover for mistakes made

I recently had the same tooth replaced with an implant.
4 months with the flipper, 4 months with temporary crown, then final crown.
It's a pain, especially if the implant itself develops a crack later, and you get to replace the implant and wait another 4 months again. Just sayin.
No slight against implants, I'm happy to have it. Just be prepared for unforeseen circumstances.

Don't do the implant. You'll regret it. I had the same tooth come out. It will be a year before your own bone heals and cadaver grafting is complete. Get a bridge done. It less expensive. And BTW will likely need to be replaced sooner than you would anticipate. GET A SECOND OPINION FROM A DENTIST, NOT AN ORAL SURGEON. Good luck either way. Love the Cali Chowder.

oral surgeon and long time fan. sorry to hear you are starting the implant process but bionic Sam will be a food terminator! Surprised they are not doing the immediate implant with extraction but need it to look good. also planned on a clam chowder this week- got supplies Saturday- and will be going left coast now. cheers

I feel for your tooth issue, I had one of my front top teeth flake in half about a week before sweet corn eating season here in the Midwest, closest and soonest I could get in to somewhere was weeks off and they were on the down side of iffy that a patch would stand up to eating corn on the cob, thought I might starve

I get that you may need to employ family members, but some of this stuff is off-putting and I'll click away. The transitions with bass stuff gets old and makes me want to watch something else. The Chancey/Max stuff is ugh. Sam is great and makes me want to cook stuff, just stick to that please.

Had the same thing happen with my front tooth! My 6 yr old popped me in the mouth with a bat accidentally. Went through two crowns, now to an implant. I swear I made that dentists house payment. Their charges should be criminal

Over 30 years ago i came up with an almost identical chowder here in New England, New Hampshire, during a snowstorm
Full disclosure: I was born in San Diego to Californian parents.
No damn bread croutons, oyster crackers.

Too thick. Everybody - every restaurant in Boston now - wants to make chowder into a porridge these days. Super disappointing that people think that there's just one way to make chowder, and it's gotta be a big thick and goopy.

Oh man. I feel for ya, Sam. I have 5 implants (a goddamn car) in my mouth and getting 2 more this spring. I opted for an s-ton of Valium instead of getting knocked out. Went great because I just didn’t care! lol Good luck!

I'm in the same boat as you as far as a missing tooth goes. I was awake for the extraction, but I'm looking forward to recovering and making your recipes. Maybe you could start a segment where you make 'soft' foods!

The chowder looks so yummy! Did you say soy chorizo So funny you say come to San Diego because I’ve always wanted to vaca there and we are coming in Sept! We plan on eating in one of your restaurants, can not wait!

F U Sam and your perfect weather while the rest of the country freezes. Well. not me because I'm in Alabama and it was 70 today but you know. everybody else. Love the recipe and look forward to making in soon.

I don’t know if you’re going to see this but I have EXACTLY the same issue. I just got my posts installed on Friday. You’re going to have your flipper for at least 6 months if you had a bone graph.

In Boston’s summer chowdah fest (summer. why) I remember a smahtass going get yah ice cold chowdah heah! Like he was hawking chilled bud lights at fenway, also simultaneously vomit inducing

Sam
I now always use kosher salt black pepper garlic powder and smoked paprika mixed on all my cooking. Used it on baked chicken leg quarters and it came out great. Thanks for the tips.

I had to get my three front teeth replaced and implants done. I was in the navy and had the implants started right before a deployment. I had a flipper/party teeth for a 6 month deployment.

My stepmother had a front tooth flipper. It had a side hinge attached to the eye tooth. And my coworker had 5 of those screw in things in her upper mouth. They snapped her denture to them.

Going on vacation to San Diego in a couple of weeks. I know you got out of the restaurant business, but I'm sad that your restaurants have closed. Thanks for the memories and good food.
