Making my new favorite meatloaf and the idea came from a subscriber. Sam the cooking guy Hey Sam. Recently my wife needed to supply a big lunch for some skiers on Boxing Day. There was of course turkey dinner left over from Christmas Eve so she made a batch of bread dough, and rolled it flat. She combined fresh turkey meat, veg, stuffing, potato, cranberry and gravy into a mix, and loaded it onto the dough, rolling it up like you would for cinnamon buns and baked it off. The turkey buns were fantastic! If you are looking for something to use up left over turkey, here is an idea for you. Grant. Victoria BC

One of my favorite meatloafs came from the Skyrim cookbook, the nerd gaming cookbooks are actually pretty solid and i'm a nerd so it works. The Horker load, horkers being sea lion like creatures in Skyrim. The gimmick was blending smoked oysters into the panade. It gave the meat loaf a sort of sea funk without making it taste like seafood, was the moistest meatloaf I have ever made. I like to shape my meat loafs in a pullman pan and then dump them out to bake fully exposed, then they are the perfect size for sandwiches later when i make a loaf of bread in the pullman loaf pan(yes you clean it first or have a spare like me.

Hey Sam if you're looking for something to make, I would suggest the best thing I ate when I was in Hawaii and that was the Irish Moco. It's a spin on the traditional Loco Moco, but instead of plain white rice, it had pork fried rice, and instead of a burger patty, it had homemade barbecue pulled pork and it was topped with a super thick, rich gravy. Needless to say I demolished the whole plate!

Some lightly fried BACON crumbles added in before cooking would have made that even better.
Fun Fact - I have never made meat loaf in all my 60+ years. My mom traumatized me with meatloaf when I was about 4-5 years old. It was the fact that she added tomato sauce and tomato paste to the top of it before cooking and I thought it looked like blood.

I like to put my meatloaf on a grate to drain. I always make zombie meatloaf for Halloween. We sculpt it, Garlic for eyes, onions for teeth once the glaze is on it s yummy and festive. I d like to see a Sam take on a single pan stove top beef Wellington. Maybe cast iron and oven finish. great episode!

My mother used to make a homemade ketchup that was a little thin and VERY sweet. I did not care for it to much as a condiment but in and on meatloaf it was fantastic. When she made a big batch she would ration it out to us kids so we would not fight over it.

I like to make a southern traditional style meatloaf but put a stick of smoked gouda in the middle and smoke it. And add a cup of bbq sauce to the tomato sauce that goes on top. And of course, served with smoked gouda and green onion mashed potatoes

Sam, if I made a 2 lb meatloaf I'd wonder what my wife is going to eat. It looks great but, you gotta get the size of that bad boy up. That's like those silly family pack portions that make me wonder if the family was made by Mattel

question - I've been looking at these pans lately. I currently have the copper non stick and do like them. but these pans seem to be more sturdy, and don't they allow you to use metal utensils? do you recommend these pots/pans?

Look up Altoona Hotel Pizza. The original Altoona Hotel burned to the ground years ago but the 29th street pizza and subs makes this iconic one-of-a-kind pizza that is just like the original. Sam could make it famous.

SAM! This is death row last meal type shit. I wrapped mine in bacon and did it bulgogi style with sweet soy and added cabbage. OMG, this is other-worldly. Thanks for the inspiration. I drooled over this idea all day long.

In French they call a potato an apple of the earth. Sam being Canadian, probably has heard that even if he isn't from the French speaking area of the country.
Pomme=apple
Pommel de terre= apple of the earth.

Looks yummy. Wonder if it would be nice with a little shaved cabbage added in with the other sauteed veg. Or maybe served with a side of sauteed cabbage and noodles. Such a fun idea!

Have you ever made anything that you don't like? If so what was it and what did you do to fix it? Make something that makes what you previously didn't enjoy better. (if that makes sense.

My buddy Dave said mines so good, I should sell it. Of course he's biased, but mine is pretty yummy. I certainly will give this a try, and probably swap the chicken out for veal.

I hear spicy helps you live longer. I challenge you to make 5 different spicy dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snack. A spicy topping and dip does not count

I make a pork meatloaf that is rolled with Stuffing on the inside. The pan dripping make a wonderful gravey to have over the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. That is some comfort.

I'm the cook in the family and told my wife when we met if you can't make a decent meatloaf I can't marry you. jk. She still hasn't made me meatloaf I like this idea.

I guess this proves Sam 100% correct about adding Soy Paste doesn t make the dish taste like Asian food since he didn t add it to his Asian inspired meatloaf

that meatloaf is an abomination Because not everyone likes their meat. Loaf cooked well done and adding chicken to it is a really bad idea Can we say food poisoning
