Just when you think youve tried every flavor of macaron out there, think again, because we e showing you how to make one of my favorite flavors, fruity pebbles So get excited, Im going to show you that they e not as intimidating as you might think, and teach you how to add your favorite flavors to the mix. RECIPE: Fruity Pebbles Macarons From Alyssa Noui, POPSUGAR Food For the macarons: 1 cup confectioners sugar 3/4 cup almond flour 2 large egg whites, room temperature pinch of cream of tartar 1/4 cup superfine sugar 1/4 cup fruity pebbles cereal, crushed For filling: 6 ounces white chocolate chips 1/4 cup heavy cream 1/4 cup fruity pebbles cereal, crushed In a microwave safe bowl, heat cream until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and allow to sit for a few minutes before stirring. Mix together white chocolate ganache. Add crushed cereal, mix and set aside. Preheat oven to 375F. Pulse confectioners sugar and almond flour in a food processor until combined. Sift mixture twice. Set aside. In a stand mixer, whisk egg whites on medium speed until foamy. Add cream of tartar and continue mixing until soft peaks form. Turn the speed to low and add sugar, and then increase the speed to high and whip until stiff peaks form. Turn off mixer and gently fold almond flour mixture into the egg whites. Carefully transfer mixture to a pastry bag fitted with a 1/2-inch or #6 plain tip and pipe 3/4 in diameter rounds spaced an inch apart onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Crush fruity pebbles into a fine grind and sprinkle on top of piped macarons. Tap the bottom of the baking sheet to remove any air from the batter and let stand for 15 minutes so the cookie creates the shell. Reduce oven heat to 325F and immediately bake macarons for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookie is crisp and firm, rotating the sheet halfway through. Bake one sheet at a time, raising the oven temperature back to 375 and then letting it drop to 325F with each tray. Once cool, use an offset spatula to remove the cookies from the parchment paper. Sandwich together two cookies with about 1/2 teaspoon of ganache in between. Gently press cookies together until the ganache just reaches the diameter of the macaron. Cook Time: 1 hour Serves: 8-10

Yes, meringue based cookies such as the Italian macaroon did center in Italy during the time. But the ones youre talking about are the coconut meringue cookies/biscuit called macaroons. After them the two french women youre talked about changed it up a notch and created something else that was also meringue based, however the main ingredient no longer consisted of coconut, instead, almond meal. And the french pronounced and spelled THAT with one o. Hence, Macaron.

She used the right ingredients but didnt fold it to the right consistency. Its suppose to look like lava flowing but hers were still stiff, thats why she said they are chewy, which they arent suppose to be. They are suppose to be super crunchy with a slightly hollow middle. And anyone who trys to tell me different are wrong because I am a pastry chef so I know what Im talking about.

Me. .. I think that French macaroons could be fancy because that is how they have always been. What am I talking about anyway, this show literally ruins bakerss life by crushing recipes. I saw one of their videos where they used a packed brownie mix to make red velvet, because Im a baker I cried with pain and woke up my dog.

i am still intimidated by macaron, plus my first encounter with tasting macaron was bad as the bakery i bought them didnt make it right, its chewy (like a chewed crisps, bland and not crunchy at all. this video also again shows how complicated it is to make sifting twice, need to rotate, and control the temp. damn it

You should have mentioned more about the mixing process. You need to mix it till its the right texture (similar to flowing lava) before you can pipe or else the macarons will not form correctly. Over mix, the feet might not develop and end up spreading while baking.

Make sure to make these and sandwich them a few days in advance. A good macaron baker knows they are not good fresh. The must sit in the fridge to Hydrate. There will still be some crunch, but they will also have a luxurious soft center.

I feel like everyone needs to stop commenting on the macaron/macaroon thing. why not say something about how awesomely unique and cool this recipe is? would love to try but I can barely manage a normal macaron haha.

I like how she included a little fun fact but that should really just be a different web series, you know like a video about the history of macarons or something like that and then another video about a different food.

just a tip, that word is pronounced mack-er-ON. not mack-er-oon. they are completely different things. a macaroon is typically made with desiccated coconut (deliciousness) where as macarons are what you were making.

Getting into baking MacarON. this is probably the worst vid to follow. People are deem to fail without proper techniques being mentioned. Also failing to distinguish MacarON vs MacarOON (coconut pastry/cookies.
