Rofl you were really unlucky It was the most retarded coup attempt in turkish or maybe even in the world history, but you were lucky that it was a retarded attempt, because, if it was succesfull, probably you wouldn't get out of the country for a long period of time I also wonder why you don't get a volunteer to guide you in the countries you visit? for example, i would gladly do that in istanbul. I know a lot about istanbul and its history and also the best places to eat. It was funny to watch that you ate in a restaurant 200 meters away from my home. I pass near that restaurant everyday and i ve never tried it since i knew much better places. A guide would help you a lot also in situations like this one. Also could show you how to eat or order the food. Moreover, I think you should ask people how to eat the food you ordered. You do must of them in the wrong way. And i can barely watch your videos without getting hungry: ( but great videos

mark wiens I'just go to turkey my homecountry and we come right at 15. july and our airplane takes off at 20: 10 pm and as we land in zurich we dont now that there is a coup in turkey. may grandfather calls my mother and he said: why do you dont call us there is a coup in istanbul my mom said: now it was so normal when we beeing in istanbul. As we come home at 11: 00 pm we lookt at the news and social media and we go to sleep at 3: 00 am in the morning and my hole family was sleeping. i alone wake up in 6: 00 am and the attempters was on the bosphorus brigde and in that morning the attempters throw a bomb in ankara. but the coup was on the 15. july and at 14. july was that in france with the white LKW in nice. it was the worst two days in my hole life

I am want to thank you for talking from your perspective on traveling safe and how sometimes the media can dramatize events more than necessary. I have close friends that live in Istanbul and own a small cafe very close to the Blue Mosque. They depend on tourism for their livelihood and the events that have happened this year especially have been very difficult for them. So thank you. And lastly I am grateful that you and Ying were safe while in Istanbul. Especially knowing now that Ying was pregnant. You are so thoughtful to keep those affected by the attempted coup in your thoughts and prayers. These are all the reasons why your food vlogs are my favorite. Thank you.

Hey Mark, that was not rice. It is bulgur and it is actually much more nutritious then rice. I have not seen that anywhere except Turkey. So, lucky that you tried it. But you should try the one my grandma cooked: D If you also want to try something unique to Turkey, try Sahlep. It is a white, hot beverage served with cinnamon. It is made out of a root of a flower and that flower is about to extinct. As far as I know, collecting those flowers from the nature is illegal in Turkey. The taste is indescribable and wonderful I am wondering your reaction to it.

What a loving expression to end the video. I've traveled extensively, both as a single woman, and married, and been through some ahem interesting experiences. It's been my experience that crises tend to bring out the best in the 'common man'. From a 6. 8 earthquake in Ecuador, to the recent Hurricane Matthew in coastal South Carolina, I've seen people helping their neighbors, helping strangers, giving 100% to their fellow humans. Governments will do silly things, but good people far outnumber the bad ones. You make amazing videos, Mark. and you're a good human.

People are safe in Turkey, at least for now. This coup was plotted by one of the strongest so-called religious groups in Turkey, whose supreme leader is currently residing in US. He is still politically dangerous but lost much of his influence and now considered as terrorist by all citizens. I absurdly feel fantastic when i think he once managed or controlled 17 universities, many billion dollar corporates and around a million people but now he lost all. People of Turkey are very grateful for your nice thoughts.

hey mark just watched this and I am out of touch with the current events of Turkey and I know there has been bad things going on there. I am glad that God is watching over you and Ying and bought you home safely. I pray that you will continue to travel safetly and eat safely as well. I am glad to see that you both are healthy after eating so many foreign foods that you might not know if is clean or not. It does all look good. Take care look forward to see more great foods.

I Iike the fact ying talks to mark in her language and mark responds back in english. I do the same to my wife as she's Japanese. I speak to her in Spanish and she responds in Japanese. She's learning Spanish very quickly. I do understand Japanese and I did take classes to learn the language. I find it amusing and you don't see a lot of people communicating each other with their own language and still have the knowledge to understand what the other is saying. I like it

When I moved from the US to Ecuador, I was so grateful for the local people who approached me to warn me about wearing jewelry at open markets, how to hold my bag, and things to watch out for. By far, the majority of people are kind, generous, hopeful and helpful. Anywhere, any-when, any-how.
