Oh I miss Empanadas since I have been to Argentina once - it is hard to find good ones in restaurants around Germany (they often do them with puff pastery) and it is my test when I go to a spanish or argentinian restaurant: show me their Empanadas and I judge wether the restaurant is really good / authentic. I envy you that you even have Empanada delivery where you can order them in dozens. It always takes a long time for me to make the dough (no premade pastry plates available like in Argentina, to prepare the filling, let it cool, fill them and bake them - so I usually only do a big batch once or twice a year - but making a big batch doesn't help, because no matter how many I make they are gone super fast! I use melted butter not lard in the dough and I prefer them al horno, I already did in Argentina and yes I have been to Salta, the capital of Empanadas. Plus I add some olives and raisins in the filling.

I love this girl and how lively she is! loved it when she said you can bake it and save calories but trust me! fry it! save calories in gym! but gosh it's a greasy dirty delicious food. maybe replacing the lard in the dough and in the filling with extra virgin olive oil would lighten it up a bit? I'm a health freak: D I'm scared of all that saturated fat. I also loved that warm filter on the image, so argentina, so south hemisphere, where summer is beginning! lucky them!

I'll definitely try to add some stock to make my empanadas juicier, not sure about the tomato sauce tho. Also, boiling the meat bits a few seconds will seal them and keep them juicy on the inside. And btw, I'll make my first fried batch this weekend, you tempted me!

I just made these last night and they were freaking delicious! I baked mine (even though you said to fry them) and they were still great. Next time I make then though I will fry them. ;) Thanks so much for the recipe Felicitas!

We call this Epok-epok in Malay. Do not be afraid of the fats. Just use Coconut oil. It's healthy and the empanadas will definitely taste better if it's fried.
