before adding the milk, you can cut the cake in half so you have 2 layers (or just bake 2 cakes) then pour the milk on each layer separately. Frost the bottom layer as Hila did. Then, you can carefully transfer the top layer maybe utilizing some big spatulas or by putting the top layer onto a cutting board, laying it on top of the cake pan so it lines up above the bottom layer, then use a spatula to make sure the top layer stays where it is while the you remove the cutting board. Good luck.

They do already have Quatro Leches Cakes and the joy of baking is using what you like and have, I've had this cake in Mexico, and I can assure you that you do not HAVE to top it with Italian Meringue which would be funny since Tres Leches Cake Although the origins of tres leches cake are disputed, it is eaten all throughout Latin America. In fact the heavy cream that is part of the 3 milks in part is used for the syrup then whipped up for the top, keeping it still true to it's name-.

should I wait for the cake to cool completely before pouring the milk over it or should I pour the three milks over it right when it comes out of the oven and it is still hot? Ive been looking at many recipes and some say when its hot it absorbs the milks much better, and other recipes warn to never pour the liquid when the cake is hot. So which is it? This is my first time making tres leches and I don't have time to test out both theories. thank you

It's origins are as claimable by any one non-Anglo-American country, as is 'Dulce de Leche', 'Empanadas', 'Mate', 'Churros' or 'Churrasco [Asado]'. Although, ultimately, all have their origins in Spain &/or Portugal, more or less. except for Mate. or something like that.

Is it okay to use just a regular milk to replace the half n half? Its hard to find it in malaysia but the other two milk is not a problem. We got it everywhere in the local store here! :D

You're supposed to use Italian meringue, not whipped cream. If this recipe had whipped cream, it'd be called cuatro leches.

-. except for Mate (comma, or something like that.
Mate is (native) American. Punctuation, it seems, is very important.
