Hilah,
Awesome video by you!
I like the way you cooked this, your version seemed traditional, and your presentation upon plate was quite appetizing!
I was raised on -Willow Ware - Blue ' as a small child, it had age cracks and a great charactor and I appreciated seeing it in your intro to the video!
The iron skilletts at home were first seasoned and used on a wood burning stove from an earlier period by my grandmother, and your sausage brought back memories seeing them cooking!
Thank's

This dish comes straight from Haiti (I am Haitian. Let us not forget the haitian migration in the 1800's (white and black haitians) who brought a part of their culture to Louisiana. The real red been and rice is not like that (no peperoni and all other stuff, it has been modified through the years because environnement haitian were living in. Wether u wanna admit it or not, red been and rice comes straight from my beloved haiti

Looks great to me! The problem in this household is that my lady doesn't like kidney beans. So I will try the same thing with black beans. Have you even tried them as a substitute for for kidney beans. Yeah. I know--then it won't be red beans with rice. But I will do everything else the same. Thanks for another great video! You rock!

another trick is to wait till the beans crack from the Heat when the skin start separating from the meat before you add your powdered ingredients that way the beans themselves will absorb them better and always salt at the end. other than that looks very delicious when you have a cute personality-

Yummayyyy! That looks super good! Those sausages sound freakin awesome too! I absolutely suck at cooking brown rice. I don't know what I do wrong. I can cook it for nearly 20 mins and it still has crunchiness to it. I don't like crunchy rice! Do you have any tips for little old me? ;)

I am a New Orleans girl. every Monday is right. Looks good and you're Sooooooooo right about the hot sauce. Crystal! But you forgot to add a little sugar to cut the gas and to add an extra bit of flavor.

You could use canned beans. I would drain them and add them to the other vegetables later, along with a little water. Sorry, I just saw this question for some reason. :/ Glad you like the recipes!

When I made red beans and rice I usefully saute the vegetables before adding the seasonings, beans and liquids but your version looks a heck of a lot easier. I'm gonna have to try it!

I remember hating the name -red beans and rice- nothing in that name lets me know that it has meat in it. LOL But trust me, this looks delicious even if I do leave the meat out; )
