it does i used to have thin hair and my mom out coconut oil in my hair and cut my hair and boom it just started getting thicker and thicker i-m sick of my thick hair it takes 2 hours to wash and half the bottle of shampoo is gone

As someone who does this every 3-4 weeks, buy conditioning caps to cover your hair overnight. They are like shower caps only smaller (to provide a better fit, they usually come 3-4 to a package, and they are very inexpensive.

I can confirm on the outcome of coconut oil to make hair darker, and thicker. I used Coconut oil ever since i was a kid. Though the main reason that my parents made us to use coconut oil was to avoid hair frizz.

My mom just heat the oil a little bit and massage it in scalp and hairs. I sometimes leave the oil for 24 hours or more - Coconut oil in haircare is like an essential in South Asian households
