My Anxious Dog Takes His Favorite Blue Blanket Everywhere He Goes

I was sick during the fireworks and was just laying down inside, and the dog shoved open the door and curled up around my head. He knew that I didnt mind him invading my space and would always come to me for cuddles.
Grandma had a blast watching me get the dog all worked up with the zoomies and wear him out the next morning. Lol

The sound proof room is such a great idea! I never would have thought of that! Most people just dope their dogs up w a tranquilizer instead. Which isn't necessarily the best thing for the animal. you are obviously very loving, responsible pet owners. And tu for sharing Milo's story w us all. I'm sure seeing this will help many other anxious dogs and their owners come up w more creative solutions to their pets anxiety issue.

I have a big dog who gets scared at loud noises. I wish we could set something up like this but we're in a small condo so she just climbs on our laps. She thinks she's a tiny lap dog but she's a 95 pound Black Lab/Doberman/Rottweiler mix. She has this plushy stuffed chicken that she loves so we make sure she has her chicken. My husband and I got pinned down on 4th of July but I managed to get free.

1: 10 You DO NOT pet dogs when they're scared. You DO NOT wrap them in blankets like that. When you pet a dog in this state you're (in their mind) rewarding them for being scared. This creates a feedback loop where the dog acts anxious to feel rewarded by pets.
The best way to comfort an animal when they're scared is simply to act calm and in control. The dog will copy your demeanor.

I love Myko, his parents and his grandparents! He is so loved! I think I’ll do the private space for my Princess. The 4th of July is the worst day of her life. My entire home shuts down, including windows, curtains and blinds; but she shakes as though her world is coming to an end. What a great idea, to build her a quiet space. Love this video!

That dog was so happy after he was shown his boomie roomie. My dog has a lot of anxiety too especially on the holidays where I live. People do a lot of fireworks and that’s what scares him the most. I think he also gets irritated when people are talking a lot like our neighbors who live behind us.

I'm glad to see someone acknowledge and care for a nervous dog. For the last 4 years every fourth of July I babysit my neighbors very nervous dog so I know what goes into that whole evening. Beautiful to see these guys go absolutely above and beyond for him.

Wonderful! My cat's 'boomie roomie' is in the car in the garage. I leave a car window open and he goes in there and hangs out for hours. (Garage is attached to house, he just goes downstairs. He's a nervous little guy but loves his safe space. : )

This is such a great story! It’s nice to see such invested Pet Parents. I think my pets are family and I will do ANYTHING to make them feel betterso I get it! Our furry family members are priceless. And I love the name boomie roomie!

Make him an outfit with his blankie. That way he can wear it. You need hold him eith fireworks. Give him hemp oil to help with his anxiety. I also cover my dog's kennels and keep it dark for them. They feel cozy and secure.

I wish people would consider anamels during 4th of July while setting of fire works. I have dogs that are the same on 4th of July they get Anxious & scared & wont go outside to go to the bathroom.

When my dog is anxious because of storms or fireworks, I put on a back brace on her that I bought at Home Depot for $15. Better than any expensive thunder jacket.

I know that children and adults can wear weighted vests for calming purposes. I wonder if someone who is good at sewing could fashion something like that for Miko.

Poor thing. So many rescues have very high anxiety. Just like any human having to go through such turama. So glad he is doing better. I hate fireworks
