Sonic the Hedgehog Interview 3: Into the Shadow Realm

Sonic the Hedgehog Interview 3: Into the Shadow Realm

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is out, and Ben Schwartz returns to the Polygon studio for a confrontational conversation with Pat Gill. This time, they're getting existential: just as Shadow is the Shadow Version of Sonic, so too do our questions for Ben contain a Shadow Self. We're talking chili dogs. We're roleplaying Keanu Reeves. And most of all, one of the cameras is slightly out of focus the entire time. Thanks Ben. Please come back. I did click the Miles Per Hour thing on my own a few years back
But when Sonic 2 originally released I read his name as Miles Tails ProwLer once, and it stuck as that in my head for decades.
I think Prowler is also what Ben said. Which makes sense, because Foxes presumably Prowl

This series of interviews is a complete blast. Just unbelievably funny. To see someone meet Ben’s chaotic energy with such aplomb is unreal. Pat just does deadpan delivery upon deadpan delivery of the most unhinged stuff, makes my head spin.

As a Final Fantasy lore nerd whose favorite era was the SNES one, I just want to say that Ben Schwartz misremembering literally every detail about them caused me physical pain, and that yes he would be an AMAZING voice actor for FFIV Cid.

I love that Ben actually confirmed the Akira bike slide was an intentional reference and even he knew what it was from not just the animators. There's so much love and passion put into this movie I can't wait to see it.

Little piggies should eat their slop is one of those things that I'm going to randomly think about at an unrelated time and start laughing uncontrollably, causing confusion and likely irritation to anyone around me

There's actually some AI video tools you could try to sharpen the video. Topaz Labs makes one such tool. It's pretty expensive though and it takes a long ass time to run. So probably not worth it ultimately.

When I first heard Sonic 3 was coming out, what I was most excited for was that it meant Pat would be interviewing Ben again. I have yet to see any of the movies, but I hope they keep making them forever.

I know this wasn't in the recommendations but i found that burning the video into a GBA cartridge and running it through the gamecube adapter made the experience quite enjoyable

Since the first Ben Schwartz and Pat interview, I have gotten married, had two beautiful children, bought and sold three beautiful houses, and my wife. Thank you Ben Schwartz Pat

If you've watched these interviews and you still think The Lord of the Rings is the best trilogy ever, you are an idiot and a rube
154 yards from scrimmage for Jahmyr Gibbs today, btw

11: 43 GOOF: when the salt is removed it makes a ring collection sound rather than a rings lost sound. In a behind the scenes interview Pat revealed that he does not give a shit.

Forget the Vanity Fair Billie Eilish interview--THIS is the one we've been waiting for (we also like the Vanity Fair Billie Eilish one and actually don't forget it at all)

Hope Sonic never stops getting sequels. Love coming back to these like the Vanity Fair Billie Eilish interview (if the vanity fair interview was unhinged and about Sonic.

can't wait until the 4th movie comes out so I get to once again stop being able to breathe or use my ab muscles for 18 minutes as a result of painfully heavy laughter

I don't get why Ben was so upset about the no spoiler piggy slop stuff. Clearly Pat was just paraphrasing what Ben was trying to say, and I think he did a great job.

at last the return of my favourite cinematic francise. I'll get around to watching the Sonic the Hedgehog movies eventually too. sorry Ben, I got toddlers at home.

The govenment needs to assemble a team of scientists to study the singularity of pure chaos that is created when Gill and Schwartz are placed in close proximity

I haven't seen a single Sonic movie, and haven't played a Sonic game in like 15 years, but I watch every one of these interviews pretty much as soon as they drop
reply

You say that the wide shot is out of focus, but I can see your knees crystal clear so I think we're really just paying attention to the important things in life
