As of 05/10/23, still works on PC. Get level 4 Fr. Faust ASAP, it will triple your orb income. Additionally, you must get the Hat trick skill (press the button again as soon as you catch the hat for massive AOE damage and stun lock. Look at a wall (enemies' won't attack off screen and you don't need to lock on. Movement inputs are different to skill inputs (not moving also reduces the frequency of enemies attacking because their attack scripts aren't triggered. All of this means you will barely be hit. If you're struggling, Hat trick can be performed in the air too. DT can be used to replenish health. Their is a side room unlocked by killing a pustule which replenishes DT and health. I've found this is best performed on devil hunter difficulty (reduced enemy aggression, reduced interrupts, reduced damage taken = more orbs overall. Minus the ex provocation skill (3 mill, you need 1 mill to max out each character, therefore 4 mill for each character.

There-s actually a quicker and easier way to farm Red Orbs. Go to Mission 12 on Legendary Dark Knight difficulty then you use Dr Faust and fully charge the move -Red Night Sky- to wipe out swarm of the enemies at the start of the mission. Make sure go into Gunslinger and activate Devil Trigger to prevent the enemies from hitting you. Also make sure that move is fully maxed out. Once you kill that group of enemies, restart the mission and repeat the strat again.

Maybe I'm not good at farming. I'm on devil hunter mode. Cannot change to human mode because It need me to play from beginning till mission 13.

This still works as of 1/20/21 with the Special Edition that was recently released. BTW if you're playing on PC you can use a macro with your mouse so you don't have to keep pressing the buttons. Just set it and come back to hundreds of thousands of red orbs. However, if you plan on playing through the game multiple times along with the Bloody Palace you'll probably have close to enough orbs anyways. Don't feel pressured to farm endlessly.

Thanks this still works in 2023 for anyone wondering on PS5.
But for me I did it in the beginning of mission 13 beating the first two floors dropping into the holes just so I can get used to how to do the skill then doing the checkpoint to start over again.
When starting mission 13 I had only 2000 red orbs and after 41 minutes I now have 222985.
I only had two skills though which are
Hat Trick and Dr Faust 2.

or, for one that doesnt require as much enemy dodging but is slower, go to mission 18, reach the divinity statue just before the fight with nightmare, shadow, and griffon all at one, make sure your game's saved, turn around, hit the two red orb spots behind you, restart checkpoint, hit the two red orbs again, rinse and repeat

Some tips, don't hesitate in picking up the 4th version of dr. faust skll, also do it in human mode as you will lose way less orbs if you get hit.
And in the last checkpoint i recommend doing the spawn right below the dropzone and the one to the right and then reset to the checkpoint and do it again, 8/7/21 still working

For the people getting hit a lot, manipulate the camera so that not a lot of enemies are on-screen. Enemies won't attack unless they're in the frame, so adjust the camera so that you only see dante and then spam that circle button like no tomorrow! Also, GET HAT TRICK. You'll get millions in actual minutes instead of an hour

can you farmers please farm in solo or offline mode?
whenever im kicking some ass with friends in DMD mission 13 using nero or v, some random dante always farms red orb in human/devil hunter mode
making the mobs weaker and losing lots of motivations

In case anyone wonders. I tried this with legendary dark knight mode. 1 minute gain was 250k orbs, but instead of spamming B or circle, you need to catch the hat every time with B when it touches Dantes hand so he makes the combo that enemies explode and fly on their backs. Otherwise they will beat you up badly. -

Don't lock-on; it's way easier to just spam circle and move the stick in the direction of the enemies. It's faster, frees you to hit more enemies, and prevents you from accidentally doing other moves. Also throwing in hat trick gets you the massive gains.

Level 4 Dr Faust plus hatrick. You don't even have to do anything just keep hitting O (PS, the enemies mostly won't hit you (I'm playing in Devil Hunter, holding the triggers is unnecessary and just keeps activating devil trigger.
400, 000 orbs in 5 minutes.

GIChiyo I just start playing dmc but the guy failed to mention that it-s crucial to time the square button when u catch the hat. It-s another move but it draws the enemy in plus u bring up the ranking which gives u more orbs

Instead using hat trick. Use the motorcycle will make thing easier.
1. Set the hat on them by G-Stand & O.
2. Change to sword stand and motorcycle then O. It will saw chain the enemies with ton of orbs.

7: 21 AM, 10/2/2022, CONFIRMED: This still works. Just don't get hit or you'll lose a lot of orbs. Best played in Devil Hunter difficulty for their increased health for more orbs. Watch out for the damage.

Doesn't work at all, he threw it once and then he just stood and received all the hits while I tried to -spam B-. Only lost all what I had. Screw it, I prefer just to kill enemies in orthodox way.

Thanks soo much man, this is just fantastic and supremely amazing. Although it took time to get Dr faust 4, it was definitely worth it. I went from 50, 000 crystals to 269, 000 in minutes

For this you do not spam the Hat. Once you throw the Hat it will mark all enemies or hits. Then you need 2 attack them with anything but the Hat again unless your using expending combos.
