You cant imagine what this Video gave me. I watched it about 15 times, everytime it makes me happy. A love for cooking started to burn in me and as times allow it I love to put on some musik or a podcast and spend some hours in the kitchen, creating something new or recreating some of my favorites. Asking my father about the weed bread (of course I started with that after the first time I watched thsi video) has gotten us closer and brought us to cooking together (he is a learnd baker and kitchen chef.
Sometimes it helps when I am lonly and it enrichens my world:
After this video I started to eat mushrooms (which I hated befor, let me try things like steaming food or glazing it and at the moment I work at a fish restaurant as service (I want to save some money befor my dual study in IT) which let me try and enjoy fish (also something I couln't eat before that.
Even if nobody may read this, I just wanted to that everyone that makes brilliant content like this for us all to enjoy and lern from

ok but I want to see a take two of this where Brian and Adam team up with a historian of food like Jacqueline Wood or Jon Townsends, because some of the problem with this was that Link would have been using cooking methods both with and outside of the wok that are very similar to many historic cooking methods and not knowing that limited what the boys could do with their recreations. Also I have a history degree and am Like This

While i like this, ifeel like we should have someone do this anew. With a few changes.
Spices added in, like i feel one would do if able to.
No cooking dozens of things in one day that wasn't a good idea in the first place.
Completely disregarding the any [type of food] and actually choosing a good combination for the ones that didn't work out.

Honestly the one thing that gives the menu in BOTW context is the fact that Link has canonically eaten a stone steak that Daruk gave him without so much as batting an eye.
And then all of a sudden it makes a lot more sense.
(You literally get to WATCH Link put some of these things in his belly in Age of Calamity and it's HILARIOUS)

reply

cooking is such a challenge for me in botw because i spend an inordinate amount of time creating the most perfect dishes from the most exquisite ingredients, and then saving the most beautiful ones because i'm so proud of them. i am a breath of the wild sommelier
reply

Considering Link has to run around the Kingdom carrying an entire battalion's worth of weaponry and shields in addition to all the monster parts, raw food, and bugs, he probably should be eating a lot of carb heavy, fatty foods.
reply

I recently made French toast, and put honey and cinnamon in the egg+milk mixture. After the toasts were done I put the rest of the mix into the pan and made scrambled eggs out of it, and it was actually really good
reply

He could have used salt since salt is in breath of the wild. If we're just limiting ourselves to breath of the wild and not tears the kingdom, he could have used salt. He could have also used goat butter as his fat.
reply

I love how many of these they just do wrong, due to mistranslations from Japanese to English, their own subpar cooking skills, and not doing the proper cooking times because they only had so much time to cook

If BDG were to come back to Polygon and film a follow-up video, a sequel to this with TOTK recipes (doesn't have to be all recipes, just top 5 best/weirdest) would be at the top of my list.

3 years later and i still rewatch this video and laugh my ass off every time. somehow i always come back and watch it when im feeling really down, actual comfort video

-Symbolic ambulance sirens- caught me offguard xD
What a nightmare to go through, and they always kept asking for salt xD

reply

-Fried bread-? Y-all ever hear about Fry bread. The stuff is made from heaven and way better than ANY tortilla when it comes to tacos.

-I'm not gonna get any more ripped, i'm just gonna have another fish in me. -
-coughs awkwardly in Wilbur Soot lore-

reply

cooking pro tip: literally just use carrots as any other vegetable it's totally fine and doesn't affect recipes at all
reply

Only at the moment I saw him in a kitchen I realized he did not mean cooking in-game and judging the pictures/icons of the food.
reply

I-m realizing I-ve watched this video an absurd amount of time since it was released, welp that-s quality for you =3=
reply

Should have used Goron Spice, a great loophole to add a bunch of curry powder for flavour. Clearly that kept working out.
reply

The worst part is knowing that as long as there were less than 5 ingredients they could've added salt to any of these
reply

Great content! Though I kinda wish we had a version with spices; )
And btw. Oh Lord, Adam is such a gorgeous man!

reply

You should do this but instead use the fallout 4 mutant menagerie mod and do every recipe that's in that mod
reply

If you wanted to be fully accurate you would take all the ingredients and throw them in to a pan for 3 seconds.
reply

There are so many great quips in this episode, but I love, -It just tastes like honey. there's the fish. -
reply

i assume nintendo forgot to put salt in these dish descriptions so we are just left with inedible stuff
reply

This remains one of my favorite videos ever, every now and then I-ll come back and watch it with maniacal glee
