The NBA is taking the action back to the streets in NBA Playgrounds. The new arcade-style basketball game feels like a mix between NBA Jam and NBA Street. Read the full preview here

So many times we just barely miss the mark with sports games that try to be more 'explosive' and 'cartoonish' and 'action-packed. '
Just go all out already, guys! We want a game where you have action-combat controls to wade through the court, meteor-like basketballs flying to and fro and knocking enemy players aside, limit-break style moves where our character throws their ball through the roof of the stadium, jumps towards the hoop, the camera shows the ball bouncing off the goddamn moon, and it pierces and destroys a satellite on its way back down before our character slam dunks it emitting a shockwave that turns the crowd into skeletons like the nuke in Terminator.

Audio is pretty crappy - music/crowd/announcers all sound worse than NBA Jam. UI is really basic but sometimes that can be a good thing - I like the design of the bar by their feet. Crowd could have some better idle animation. Missing crowd shadows. VO seems a little lifeless and fake during parts of it but not all of it. Is this possible to get on mobile? If so, that could explain the negatives.

Card openings must not happen that often if there are only a fraction of players. Unless players have different skill levels or -tiers- like silver, gold, etc

this looks real real bad, game play looks sluggish, the graphics and commentary are worse than a 24 year old SEGA/SNES game. No passion in the announcer at all.

looks fun, but i wish they would've gone with a better look for the players. make them look more NBA street type look instead of the midget look.
reply

yo they need to remaster streets 2, keep the same play and feel but with current rosters, online, and upgraded moves and such! perfect

never been a huge sports fan for sport video games, but this looks fun, even if it is a spinoff, can't wait to pick this up: )

Since there is no passing and dribbling attribute, is it safe to assume each player passes and resists steals the same?
reply

as I stated with upgraded material. ie. courts, rosters, moves, with more bonuses and tournaments, perfecto
reply

what we need is a new nba street with kick ass online play 4 v 4 and 3v3 and 2v2 it needs to be revived

is it possible to invite an online friend to a party/team to play with him against other people online?
