Regarding the All the References segment - one other major thing that you left out in regards to movie references concerns this clique that's always antagonizing the Recess gang, called The Ashleys. The fact that all the girls in this clique have the same name was inspired by the 1988 cult classic Heathers, while the outfits they wore and their fashion sense was inspired by the classic 1995 comedy Clueless. In fact, there is this episode entitled First Name Ashley in which Spinelli (whose first name is Ashley) tries very hard to keep this a secret because she doesn't want to associate with the Ashleys. I think it was JT who outed her in front of the school body. The Ashleys then tried everything to get Spinelli to join up with them, but were met with resistance, then everyone tried to sign themselves up as an Ashley to get the Ashleys to finally back off. I was waiting the whole video for you guys to bring this up and was surprised that you didn't. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Looking back at Recess, the only negative I see is the schoolyard hierarchy. King Bob is not a king, he's a student. And everyone bows to him despite no obligation besides what another student made up. Since he wasn't put in charge of anything by the faculty, he has no athority whatsoever. The Unwritten Code Of Honor was a made up system of rules a student came up with. And everyone follows it like sheep, even though it wasn't established or enforced by the school staff. Students answer to teachers, not other students. Kids answer to adults, not other kids.

Not many people know it, but Recess got TWO movies, though the second one is kind of an anthology of shorts depicting the Recess gang during the start of their time as 5th graders following the events of School's Out.
I happen to be one of the lucky few to have it on DVD.
Sure, I got it second-hand, but it works just fine.
One COULD maybe say they got THREE movies because of the Grow'd Down movie if they squint a bit. but that one's a stretch

No MsGrotke is not that great, plus if you elevate one while demonize the other(white men) you are not finding the truth or that good and evil exist on both sides. Plus there's more political aspects to the native americans vs Americans battles and why certain things happened.

I saw every episode of this show when I was in school and remember most of the titles and storylines today.
Adults or maybe even kids would also notice the 2 specifically placed diamonds on the front of Ms Finster's dress

This show is a gem, I never appreciated the adult themes as a child, but as an adult, they're all too relatable, especially Prickley's speech in the film about how kids grow up too fast.

Recess was my childhood memory just like doug scooby doo and all that. They should have made a spin off with vince character and that kid butch with the silver line in his hairstyle

The best show from Saturday Morning cartoons. I loved Recess so much.
I especially loved when A. Spinelli was revealed to be Ashley obviously, she was my favorite

I was hoping to hear about the adult references in this cartoon. At first I didn’t notice it as a young child, but my older sister pointed it out to me.

Recess is to kids what a coffee break is to adults, something the adults in the series either forget or get reminded of in certain episodes.

That black teacher on Recess, that's Bonnie's voice actress on Family Guy and one of the Playhouse Disney Announcers during the 2000s.

I’m planning on being a 4th grade teacher, and there are a number of episodes I want to show my students in order to spark discussion

The Recess theme is the music from the movie The Great Escape! That’s why it feels like a prison escape! Because it is!
