Dan and Blair did have built up and originally they were supposed to be endgame that is until Joshua Safran writer of the show left it for another show that this changes you can tell before the end of season five one minute Blair is happy with Dan then next episode she wants chuck I mean she didnt even have a proper break up with Dan she just left like she never cared for him. Dan was there when nobody else was he supported her through her pregnancy they had an intellectual connection but all this was ignored in the last season where clearly all the progress she made as a character and person when she was with Dan for the prior three seasons was thrown out the window to turn her back into the girl who only cared about being with Chuck which after everything that happened in prior seasons which people tend to forget should have been reason enough for them not to be together same thing goes for Dan and Serena the whole show she treated him like a backup her sloppy seconds then as soon as hes happy with Blair Dan suddenly is the love of her life i could go on in on personally I choose to ignore the final season to me the show ended when Dan and Blair ended

Cat X Robbie = (though never fully confirmed it had been heavily implied in an episode of Sam and Cat)
Andy x April = Parks and Rec ( all of season 1 and first half of Season 2) they barely knew each other existed
and my personal fave DWIGHT X ANGELA = The Office. Honestly that one shook me the most, for the entire first season as well as half of season 2 (just like with Andy and April, these two never even shared a hello plus Angela was portrayed as a crazy cat lady. So seeing these two finally end up together and having a wedding in the finale, just made my heart full of joy!

Chandler and Monica were the most pleasantly surprising connection, they also ending up being the best romantic couple on Friends and one of the best in TV history. They had amazing chemistry, better stability, sacrifice, compromise, trust, continued best friendship bond, and understanding throughout their relationship. As you re-watch Friends episodes, Chandler's and Monica's relationship had growth, development, depth, and maturity as they made the heartwarming transition from romantically dating to married couple with adopted kids. Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox portrayed such a natural compatibility on-screen. This is much appreciated and well-recognized.

I don't like what writers had done with Dan's character from season 5 because like till the end of season 4 Dan always wanted to be with serena and than out of nowhere He and blair falls in love and he completely forgets his feelings about serena and even after Serena told him that he is love of her life he continues seeing Blair. I mean it doen't seem like Dan we knew from season 1.

Neither the walking dead or the buffy one were unexpected. I didn't even watch the later seasons of the walking dead and could tell you that was happening. Willow and tara always looked like they were destined for each other as well. The only surprise was when tara got shot right as amber benson made it into the opening credits for the first time.

I agree with number 1 and 2. Chandler and Monica were unexpected but Robin and Barney were a bit more unexpected because Barney was a womanizer AND more importantly Robin dated Ted (Barney's best friend. Both couples are amazing but I think this order is not a mistake since it's about which couple was more unexpected. LOVE both pairings btw

Anyone who thinks Dan & Blair dating were disgusting didnt have an eye for a REAL chemistry. The way the writers built the relationship from friends to lovers were SO good. Amongst all the couples in Gossip Girl their the ones who had a REAL connection. Dan did everything for Blair. And that's beautiful.
