Top 10?
Im not sure you should put that, like someone else said in the comments, it makes it seem like they are better than other celebs who may have also fought an eating disorder, but regardless of which celebrities are the most famous anyone who overcame an eating disorder made a big achievement and ranking them from 10 - 1 makes it seem like you are saying who made the biggest achievement and who didnt as much, which isnt right

Demi deserves the number 1 spot. I am 38, and lived from age 5 to 36 with eating disorders and mental illness. She has been a huge influence on me and many other sufferers. You will never be fully over, eating disorders and mental illness while still in recovery, but it sure feels good to have a handle on things. Demi Lovato is an icon to those who struggle with eating and mental disabilities.

While I found this video relatable because of my own struggles with an ED, saying it might be hard to believe Russell Brand had an ED because of the way he looks perpetuates the idea that you have to look a certain way to have an eating disorder. You don't. In fact, a larger majority of people with ED's are in larger bodies but are dismissed due to the stereotype thats out there.

I have been suffering from Bulimia for 15 years orso since early childhood, bur I really don't believe you can ever heal if it has been intertwined in your personality since childhood. Also learn the difference eating disorder > disordered eating, cause I feel like every teenager (especially girls) have gone through a period of having disordered eating habits due to diet culture.

This video is great but id like to say something, Demi Lovato wasnt diagnosed with bulimia. Her disorder was anorexia binge-purge type which is very different. Bulimia is characterized by constantly binging and purging while anorexia binge-purge type is usually when a person is stuck in that restriction-binging-purging cycle.

I have been struggling with my eating disorder with pics, eating objects that aren't food (notebook paper, blank white paper, paper products and lint balls) for years and I'm still struggling with that eating disorder as of right now and today in 2020 and nobody in my family and my friends has no idea about it at all.

Just have to be frank I hate the narration It always off putting and create a Terrible television like reminderWhich most of us still hate And unless the content was compelling enough I wouldve turned it right off anyway As youve turned us all off With that annoying style
reply

From what I've heard, Demi's still struggling with bulimia, so obviously she hasn't overcome it. Also, she seems not really interested in getting through it, at least, that's what her incident with that froyo store in LA seemed to show.

This is glamourizing something that needs to be destigmatized through realism, and you mention various specific behaviors which is deeply triggering to those of us who struggle with food every day. Please reflect on that.
reply

Its makes me happy that male celebrities were featured on this list. Theres truly some people out there that believe eating disorders are exclusively a female issue when it reality, men can suffer from them as well.
reply

I feel like you never truly overcome your eating disorder like for me theres always that very small voice in my head that says you should lose more weight or dont eat that and that or walk an extra hour or two
reply

I also had struggles with food too, I became bulimic at 20 but it got very worse from my parents marriage situation where they put me in the middle. But i have my good days and bad days. Thank you for this video.
reply

one thing that makes me feel a little better is when i finds out that celebrities (like zayn who i love) have/had a eating disorder (I have one) and it doesnt makes me feel like something is wrong with me

I watched some old gaga vids recently and. . She is soo thin. My disordered mind jumps straight into the assumption that she must have had a Ed and it seems like I was right
reply

Such a MISLEADING VIDEO. SEVERAL OF THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE NOT RECOVERED. PUBLIC FIGURE OR PEASANTALL HUMAN LIFE IS EQUIVALENTLY WEIGHTED. EVERYONE STRUGGLES.
reply

Pretty sure Princess Diana was still struggling with her ED when she passed. And Demi Lovato shows in her. documentary that she still engages in bulimia.
reply

What about some of the girls from Spice Girls? Both Mel C and Geri Halliwell have been open about their eating disorders and the consequences of the disorder.
reply

Daniel Johns, the lead singer of silverchair, was open about having anorexia and depression at a time that celebrities didn't talk about it (especially men.
reply

I dont think that you should put a Top in the title. Youre making it seem like other celebrities that have overcome eating disorders are not as important.
reply

this is a message to anyone who was possibly triggered by this video: you are valid. do not compare yourself to others. i am so proud of you. you are loved
reply

Lily Collins really amazed me, because she signed on to a movie that required her to mimic those harmful behaviors. I hope she walked out of that okay.
reply

Diana really didn't get over her diease because Charles was an ass who treated her like shit like she didn't exist. she suffered silently.
reply

Do another video similar to this, but about mental health disorders and/or depression specifically. Please and thank you! Spread awareness!
reply

I still struggle with my eating disorder but i havent thrown up in 7 years, but i still continue to skip meals. Sometimes days.
reply

You have absolutely no concept of what an eating disorder is like and offer no insight for anyone. Please never post again
reply

What about Christina Ricci? She was anorexic during her prime and she learned how to do from a Tracy Gold documentary.
reply

thank you for not only focusing on the women who have eating disorder and shining the lights on men who struggle too
reply

I know these artists are quite different but I would have included Karen Carpenter and Olly Alexander too: )
