my take is this, and im very confident in it. Henry finally have gotten a chance to play his beloved superman after all this time of DC not allowing to move on with next superman projects and secondly the witcher series has turned into shit since season 2 with all the crap theyve brought into it (political etc). Henry realised they are ruining the whole thing and stepped off when the ship hasnt fully sank. Every fan of the witcher universe can see it for themselves, its getting worse and worse. but on the bright side DJ made things possible with his black Adam and brought superman back into the game so ultimately, he chose the lesser evil
Edit: i hope superman movies will just get better and i want to see more characters not just constant rebooting of batman and Superman

This is one of the worst news I have heard, Henry is and will always be the only Geralt for me, he embodied him so well, for some he is the reason the show is even watchable. Changing the actor for the main freaking character of a show is just super bad, maybe he didn't like the writing, who knows, but whatever this is. it made me loose interest in the show as a whole, I liked it very much but with this change I just don't see myself watching from S4 onwards with a different actor, it's going to feel so off and weird cause it's still going to be Geralt, like seeing the new actor interacting with Yen and Ciri. it's a different person man lol. Show is gonna get cancelled at S4 for sure, it's just sad.

It's really not that hard. A humble Polish game company took the source material and made one of the best loved and most successful games of all time, while staying true to the original lore. It is so sad to see the slew of ham handed adaptations that ride the back of an original concept and then turn it into a sub standard soap opera. American creatives seem to find it impossible to say anything about the world that is not a reflection of their own internalised world view. This I imagine is a direct consequence of coming from a society without much in the way of history and of belonging to a country that has been hegemonic in it's cultural dominance for almost a century.

So it was Witcher vs man of steel. Man he was born to play witcher in fact he is the Witcher. There is no Geralt without him whereas there have been multiple actors for superman and who knows in the future still are. I think he should ve stayed with the witcher. It s just my take.
Edit: So I heard that some of the people working behind the Witcher are not loyal to the source material and make fun of it. And to my own experience too, they changed many things in season 2. So then I give myself comfort that maybe it s for the best he left because the writers were ultimately going to wreck the series which it will definitely now

Completely ignoring other factors such as Henry being open about him wanting the series to be more book accurate, and news coming out about people on the show mocking the source material and not giving it the respect it deserves/people on the show not being fans of the books they're adapting and the games they SHOULD have taken inspiration from. I believe yes maybe he might have gotten very busy and had to choose but I also think he decided to leave atleast partially due to shitty show runners

i hate to see cavill go but at the same time i feel like this is a moment we can all learn and benefit from. we, as a fan community, have got to stop confusing characters with actors. by embracing recasting we could have, in the mcu, kept an iron man and a t'challa. in star wars we can continue to see luke skywalker. recasting is absolutely good and necessary for fiction so that we can continue to have the stories and characters we love as the actors move on to other things.

If you came home and (at minimum) the DC and Warhammer universes were sitting on your desk but you can't entertain the idea fully because you've locked yourself into a demanding TV show for years, what would you do? Because if I had to guess. He's asked for flexibility at the end of or during a season and that has been met with a No.
He's made an excellent career choice IMO. You cant ask him to sacrifice said career for a TV show. We know how demanding they are.

I the bad writing it's the Turing away from the books and the games. Season 1 was pretty good and had promise and Cavil nailed. Season 2 was bad apart from first episode but still Cavil nailed it. The writer needed to remember it's called Witcher. Season 3 i am expecting more of the season 2 crap writing and not much Cavill. I am giving up on it. Like Game of thrones seasons 1 to 6 great 7 and 8 bad. Work out why.

Let s face it. Season 1 was good, 2 terrible. The deviation from the books is inexcusable. Now they re recasting for season 4? I m a lover of the books. But this is where I bow out. I can t stand actor substitutions. I know there were clashes with filming but I think they could have worked round it. I think he just lost the passion when he realized how Netflix are demolishing the story.

The writers didn't give a shit about the source material and even took the piss, after the shit second season (the first wasn't great) I think many will be out anyway. Season3 will be worse than the previous two and forget the fourth season (no disrespect to the lesser known Hemsworth (pointless fact, I live a few miles form a place called Hemsworth) though.

That rather obvious elephant has been in the room since before filming started. Why people are surprised is beyond me. The only thing I found surprising is 1) that Cavill signed on given how passionate he is about the Witcher and 2) that he lasted as long as he did. The show is an offensive insult and has been from day one.

What really surprises me is that while I've heard nothing but good things about The Witcher, most of what I've heard about Superman has been meh to oh my god the mustache. I don't know what to make of Cavill relinquishing the one for the other like that. I guess maybe the script or the money was just that good?

Henry probably couldn't stomach having to work with the Netflix hack writing team disrespecting the work he so loves. I'd quit too if the people responsible for writing the show have nothing but contempt for it, and making it the Ciri and Yennefer show.
F-Netflix. Again!

So dumb. Just delay the season if you can't make the schedules line up. Now you just torpedoed your own show. Theres no way it doesn't sink now. Makes me so freaking sad and annoyed. But I guess that makes sense since it's Netflix we're talking about.
