Um. No. Every single person in the original was dispatched other than the female and Dutch. The predator in the original sniped from cover/concealment or attacked cloaked with the claw. So, no. Dutch was only able to take it down by using his brain and setting a trap. You know, like Naru in Prey.
- The predator can punch a bear but doesn't strangle Naru when he's got his hand on her.
Like, in the original, when the predator picks up Arnold, but doesn't just strangle him? I mean. Have people even watched the original predator movie? The predator drags Naru to the rocks where it decides to just decapitate her. The rocks stop the blades of the shield and she rips a mandible out of it's jaw, stabbing it in the face with it, to get away.
- but but the CGI!
Again. Did they not see the horrendous CGI in the original? Prey wasn't a huge blockbuster budget movie. For the money they had, the best I could find was a comment that said it was 40 mil, it used every bit of that money in the CGI that was done. Given you have 300 mil budget movies (Justice League) with CGI that's worse than Prey? Yeah. And, the reason it wasn't up blockbuster standards is because it wasn't a blockbuster budget movie.
- Naru got bullied by the tribe!
Um. This was set in 1719. 300 years ago. Care to find me where, 300 years ago in the US women were CEO's of companies and not married out in arranged marriages, put into the kitchen, and told to take care of the kids? And if they tried to do something different, like, you know, burning their bra's in the '60s and '70s for equal rights, weren't bullied by men to stay in their lane? Much less 300 yrs ago.
- Every character in the tribe was the same!
Um, yeah. You had the brother and the rest of the male braves who had the role of hunter/warrior. The women were the gatherers, foragers, medicine healers. Did these people miss the 1719 setting?
- There was fan service with callbacks!
NOOOO! REALLY? I'm shocked. shocked I say!
- It panders to gender politics.
Really? You mean, in 2022, you STILL need to point out that wimmenz aren't just wives for men to have babies with? (looks at the comments how a wimmenz isn't beating a predator while men in all the other movies were slaughtered only winning by setting a trap. that is exactly how Naru won.
- But Naru beat the trappers!
Yes. Once Naru got over her fear, found confidence in her abilities, and was fighting to save her trusty dog. she went into beast mode. Call me, a Gulf War veteran, former Explosive Ordnance Disposal and law enforcement, that walked live minefields in Iraq, and saw the exact same thing happen to me and many other men that had to put aside their fear and trust their ability shocked.

What s funny is Naru was never questioned as a warrior by her tribesmen. As there were women of many tribes, including Comanche, who were skilled warriors because they had to protect the homestead from warring tribes when their men were out hunting. She was questioned as a hunter, because most likely due to strict role enforcement, she probably wasn t given traditional hunter training. She appears to have taught herself to throw a tomahawk. Also, ALL of the Comanche are depicted as multi skilled, as life in the harsh elements would demand. Those Comanche, from the hunting party to tabe, to Naru were depicted as much better fighters than the much more technologically advanced fur trappers. Her whooping their asses makes perfect sense, as she comes from a whole warrior culture with fighting styles and traditions that make them akin to a martial art. Those traders had likely never met a woman of her strength and skill. As for the feral predator, she outsmarted him after he had been injured and nearly killed by her brother. As well as her hunting party. They did just about as much damage as a predator as the fur trappers. She weakened the lion for Tabe, and he weakened the predator for her. And gave his life to give her the time to come up with a plan to kill it, because he knew, not thought, knew she would figure out a way to do so.

The comments here must be a joke right? The CGI in this movie is horrible. The fight scene between DiCaprio's character and the Kodiak in The Revnant was awesome. The Cgi is just wack here in this movie. Judging by the comments here, The simple simons would probably be more entertained by watching Sharknado! They don't know jack about the Predator, and logic escapes some of these people commenting on here. Also this movie goes against the Lore which Raphael was a guy who fought alongside the Predator, and who subsequently gave him his musket which was handed down to Danny Glover's character in Predator 2. So many plotholes in this movie it's not even enjoyable and it's also boring. Let me guess, I must be racist for not liking this cheaply made movie. The studio got so lazy that they gave the Predator a generic looking mask instead of the cool ones we are used to seeing in the other movies as die hard Predator fans. It's terrible! No better than the last Predator, and no worse either I suppose.

I forgive basically all of these issues and even brush most of them off as people being mad a female lead killed the predator.
The one that bothers me the most is how the predator kinda just didn't notice that Naru stole it's mask, then forgot that theres a pin point perfect targeting system in the mask that activates when the harpoon gun is drawn and didn't think the harpoons would have been drawn off course to some random location when the weapon fire, and then simply turned off the tracking feature before going after Naru and using the harpoon gun.
The other is how Naru was able to piece together that the orange pedals (already forgot the name of them) is what stopped the predator from seeing the man playing dead, and not, you know, because he was playing dead. It was a pure shot in the dark based on incomplete information to zero in on a concept (thermal vision) that is completely foreign to anyone in her time period. She's smart, but not THAT smart.

This was a much younger predator - he was there studying the different habits of predator and prey as demonstrated by the wolf/rabbit sequences. You can certainly tell he has a soft spot for prey he feels are unfairly attacked.
He was also much smaller, less technologically and considerably weaker.
For those boneheads commenting on how a tiny woman took down a big bad predator obviously forget that THIS predator had been HURT by the bear, the other hunters, had been freaking shot several times, and her brother had already done most of the damage. In both Predator 1 and 2 none of the other platoons or fighters barely got a hit in! It was ALL up to the hero in the end.
It s really not our fault if these goods aren t true fans of the chronicles!

I agree these predators cant be so deadly if they keep dying. We need some predators that are impossible to kill. I think we might get there with the elder predator coming into action. And yes i think the predator should have beat the crap out of her when it grabbed her. But let s keep supporting the movie so maybe they break off into a series. Let s be honest that s really the only way we ll get the whole story and then maybe make movies of predator in different time periods. But we need to know alot more about how predators are and work and how deadly they are. There s alot of things not displayed. We never have seen an elite even fight or elder but once in avp. And that wasn t great. But he was badass. Letssss goooo guys!

I thought the new predator looked hard core. the face got me all iffy but i was like whatever about it, I could say the same for cgi but again I m alright with it. On a side note those there was a comment somewhere I forget where but I was on board with the idea. that since now this movie describes it as the first time the predator arrives here, I feel it closes that door for a canon to take part in earlier civilization times where hunters and predators are more common place in the primitive lifestyle (like how AVP had the Aztecs or Mayans, you could throw an Apocalypto like movie with a predator in it) kinda like how the Michael Bay transformers threw that ancient human civilization in their background story.

Hah instead of using billy's 1987 line somethings coming for us and it aint no man, they opted for a more subtle line that most people wouldnt pick up on. They opted for I saw it. Its the first line Mac says after the shock of seeing the predator. Its also one of the first lines Naru says when the comanche hunting party catches up with her. I always marveled at how well/realistic Bill Duke portrayed Mac when he first sees the predator in the 1987 film. Mac is in utter shock and fear. He cant explain what he saw with anymore words other than I saw it. So that line stuck with me. And i definately noticed when Naru says it in Prey. Might be a stretch, but i definately think its a recall to 1987.

Some these fans i swear clearly have some issues but what i would disagree with the movie did try show how naru was not a good hunter she has good ideas for getting a kill but when it comes to executing she fails, failed at trying to kill the bird, get the deer in woods, and the lion all failed hunts and attempts so as hunter she is a failure has good ideas and can track nonetheless but not threat as hunter so the predator saw no threat, the wounded translator that was killed he was a threat the predator was looking for the predator was merely finishing his hunt, and other thing i will strongly disagree with i did feel a bit sad when naru brother was killed died heroically

It's not that the predator isn't as clever as the previous films. It can be interpreted as it has it's pride and confidence in fighting face on rather than hunting more discreetly. As it was not effective with the result of the way he hunted or fought, other predators may have seen this from above then came up with better way of hunting and as the director have said, it's the predator's first hunt on earth so it doesn't have much knowledge on the local inhabitants. So as the time went by and the predators have gone back to earth repeatedly, they've adapted to the factors to be considered.
So yeah, that's how I viewed this predator movie in regard to the previous films.

What killed the original predator wasn't even strength. it was Dutch's resourcefulness. Dutch's intelligence. I'm not sure why Looper went looking for complaints about Prey. This movie got most things right and it's easily the best iteration of Predator after the original. Seems to me like there are a lot of bitter misogynists out there who need to relax. That is old and predictable thinking. great movies are the result of great story telling. Prey checked all the boxes.

Comanche people were really great and skilled fighters and warriors, they knew how to use there weapons strategically and skillfully they had good tactics both men and woman were trained at a young age (not trying to sound like they were Spartans or something)but these people were really great warriors for that reason one Comanche can take out 5 or 6 guys before getting shot but one of those people. Yeah my point for the people who that the scene were she kicked ass on the white guys was silly or unrealistic.
