For more info, both Kubrick and Duvval were nominated for Razzie awards for worst director and actress respectively for The Shining. I don't want to comment on Duvval but Kubrick surely deserves that.

Anyone else notice how actresses seem to be abused more than actors? Or maybe men try to play it off, I know when filming the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) broke at least two toes filming the final and used take of him kicking a helmet in anguish and also nearly drowned AND had a real dagger accidentally thrown to at him. Orlando Bloom (Legolas) cracked some ribs when he fell off a horse and the body double for Gimli fell on top of him. Said double I think injured his knee at some point. keep in mind all three had to do that big sequence when they're all running over hills and shit.

Texas Chainsaw was a grueling shoot. They had little to no money, so they all had one costume to wear, which is the one you see on each character in the film. By the end of shooting, their clothes were stiff with sweat, dirt and fake blood, which was only made more gross by the intense Texas heat baking that shit into the clothes even more. They didnt wash them, so that way they wouldnt lose the appearance of having been in a brawl for your life with bloodthirsty cannibals. Marilyn Burns said it was awful having to get back into her costume every day because it was so rancid by the end of shooting.

This is more of a video about directors going too far. There's more to that Texas Chainsaw Massacre story. During that dinner scene when they cut Marilyn Burns' finger with the knife, they actually did it without telling her before hand and made the 'grandfather' suck her real blood. The scene when she jumped out of the second story window, she actually did. jump off of the roof. They had her running for hours through the woods, which is why she runs so slow, because she was tired of running, crying, and screaming.
The movie was brutal.

Suspiria was incredible.
1. Dance scenes were a mixture of stunning and brutal, far surpassing the original in this respect.
2. Performances were among the best of the year, especially Tilda Swinton's three roles.
3. A+ artistic elements: costumes, make up and production design.
4. Thom Yorke's mesmerizing score gets better with each listen.
5. After sitting down and analyzing parallels between the witches and the setting (Germany, it become readily apparent that Suspiria was THE underappreciated gem of 2018.

I will NEVER understand why people thought The Shining was so great. The only thing bearable in the movie WAS Shelley Duvall. The movie was supposed to be about a man's GRADUAL descent into madness. Nicholson's portrayal went from asshole to hemorrhoid. It is all well known that Kubric originally wanted to kill EVERY character in his version of the movie, which (I think) Stephen King talked him out of.

Honestly, I am not that big a fan of the film version of the Shining. I love the book, but I think the movie missed some important aspects. The book looks heavily at the devotion of parents for their children. Plus, Shelly Duvall's character Wendy is far stronger in the book. She doesn't spend most of it screaming. She defends her son, even when seriously wounded. I'll stick with the book.

This is more about directors caring more about the scene than the actors. You forgot to mention the woman in the beginning of jaws who was almost pulled in half because of the men yanking the ropes for that scene and that Linda Blair was also injured when her body was being jerked by the contraption used for the effect, but still managed to get her lines out despite the pain.

than you have Gunner Hanson who they apparently gave i think Weed to? i forget which drug, so he had never done it before and he was high off his ass during the end of the film where he's chasing her and that was a real chainsaw that was working that landed on his leg. it was just pure luck it didn't cut his damn leg off, and there's more stories from that too

You know what this is saying? That all of these were female and they have weak minds that can't tell apart real life from act. Women are weak creatures. Did you know 25% of women walk around medicated for their mental illness. That's actually pretty scary when you realize 75% walks around untreated.
