16: 52 - my favorite level. Great memories, and I only played UT for about a year back in the early 00's.
After work on Friday's, my friends and I would take over the corporate training room. We had -clean- Windows images of each desktop on CD/DVD. We'd load up games like StarCraft and UT and just LAN play all night. At the end of the night, we'd restore the clean Windows images onto the desktops so the trainers could teach with them Monday morning. No mess, no fuss.
I mentioned my favorite level; it's because of that really dark shadow next to the stairs on the opposite side of the walkway. I'd change my nick to -Timmy-, go grab a sniper rifle or rocket launcher, then just sit and camp that one shadowy spot. Soon as one of my friends dared to run down the walkway.
- blam - -head shot-
-Who the hell shot me? -
-TIMMAH! - (my best South Park Timmy voice)
After a minute or two, I'd move to the opposite side of the stairs, still hiding in whatever shadows existed. Then I'd see my friend at the opposite end of the walkway with a rocket launcher, unloading it on the spot I had previously camped.
- boom boom boom boom boom boom -
- blam - -head shot-
-HOW IN THE HELL? -
- whispers - -Timmeh. -
Good times.

UT99 is favorite by FAR. Not only the core game that I played endlessly against bots and online. I also got REALLY into the mod Tactical Ops. This was basically CounterStrike for UT. Personally, I just prefered the gun handling in TO and I got REAAAAALLY into it. I fondly recall being on Clanbase in order to get ladder matches going on private servers. After the game both teams had to go to clanbase and ENTER THE RESULT (yeah there was no such thing as ranked online play. I even got to the top of the TO ladder for Benelux for 6 weeks and 2 weeks for EU in 2v2 TO.
Also played it a ton with friends in middle school. Man. Those were the days! Love UT, definitely in my top5 of all times games.

The 90s were truly the golden age of PC gaming. What killed it, in my opinion, was gaming going mainstream via Microsoft's launch of XBox using a mutilated-to-fit-the-console-hardware Halo (mediocre PC game, has to be said. Suddenly, with the huge influx of gamers who had never played an FPS before Halo, a large proportion of the gaming industry became console-first because that's where the money was, and the effects can be still felt to this day. The creative field where innovation used to be king morphed into a primarily commercial pursuit. Very few games nowadays feel like they're a labor of love, whereas in the 90s they were everywhere. Money is indeed the root of all evil, eh?

memorable indeed, hours. countless hours and right off the bat I still know and can repeat the intro text like it was me speaking. I remember when first you played normal and then step by step experienced, skilled, adept, masterful, inhuman and then the impossible GODLIKE. I played Masterful when playing alone and Inhuman in team Deathmatch with a buddy but godlike just felt like playing against a lobby full of aimbot cheaters lol. Not to forget how devistating it got when Logue or Tamerlane where on the other side hehehe. God that is a time I wish I could relive over and over.

I do miss 3DFX it added better look than Nvidia cards today but still nice.

Help. Mr LGR!
I found 2 box sets at a flea market.
UT game of the year addition. & UT 2.
Dug out my old pc from 20 years ago. (Asus P4GE-V, overclocked 2. 68 -3GHZ PENTIUM ) anyway. The game won't load. What am I doing wrong. Xp has service pack 3. The install went fine. No warnings. But after it asks for Play Disk, nothing runs. Clicking the desktop shortcut triggers the cpu load to spike for 3 seconds, then goes back idle. No errors. No warnings, no crash log.

god i sunk so many hours into this game as a teen. i had downloaded gigabytes, GIGABYTES of content, map mods, total conversions, and files over dial up, demo cds, and from networks at school. i couldn't play online so i would play single player to its max capabilities. i became just about obsessed with this game that the moment i woke up t o when i went to sleep it was time spent in UT. lan parites in UT were some of the best times ever. damn i miss those days.

I absolutely love this game. So many hours online during my youth. I remember I had a Microsoft 2 button ball mouse and played so much I could flick the mouse to spin 180 and get a head shot. It's one game that's actually aged very well. The only down side is spawn points. Was too easy to spawn camp. Especially deck 16 where the sniper rifle was. If memory serves there are 3 spawn points to snipe over. Upper left. Lower left and lower right. -

The only bit I think that needs to be corrected is that the minigun isn't a replacement for the stinger because unreal 1 had a minigun with the same fire modes, however the pulse gun is more its replacement at least having a projectile based primary fire. But to be honest it feels a lot inspired by SiN pulse gun with plasma and a constant beam.
And to be honest this is too bad that the newest UT has stopped developpement.

Hearing this track and not fragging is weird. And yes, started with the demo too and still play! Only problem is that I'm currently on an ultrawide screen and that doesn't seem to be produced anymore. -High Intensity Zen- is absolutely right. Same feeling I get on my motorcycle. Not even half way done this video and had to stop to leave a comment and let you know how much I'm enjoying it. Right on.
