That's not entirely true. Having been in cinemas to exhibit my short films, most projectors only have 2k capabilities because it's too costly for a cinema chain to buy and maintain a 4k digital projector, especially because there isn't particularly any consumer demand for 4k at the moment. Hopefully in the future though! Good short guys. P. S You're right, it does look glorious!

It's more for future proofing than anything. The bottom line is that if you finish in 4k, your going to have a nicer looking 2k for it, while still having 4k as a deliverable when/if you need it down the road. Also, 4k tv's are the near future; the consumer demand isn't there right now, you're right, but it will be sooner than most people think.

Very very nice work guys! The car colouring and the TV shot look amazing! I would have edited in Premiere Though. Like you mentioned, no need for proxy files with R3D footage. Although, I don't speak from experience coz I don't have a RED but Premiere is my main editing program and I love it: )

Things like that should start returning soon! I'm recording my read-through with the cast of the upcoming short film tonight, and we start shooting next week, and during at least one of those episodes I'd like to highlight the job of a first assistant director.

We're gonna cover that in a video soon. Basically I (Paul) would do the VFX on the 4k raw clips. Then Nick would give me the graded clips and I would switch them out in my project file.

Most theaters that have a digital projection system do so in 4k. So we wanted a 4k finish for exhibition purposes, and it just looks glorious.
