I've used the FancierStudio follow focus and I must say that, I think it works, but it's honestly not a very good follow focus. The gears are not that precise and you can move the follow focus wheel for about 0, 5cm without the actual focus gear to move at all. Also, it's reversed so you move the focus forwards by rotating the wheel towards you. :s

How does a Director's Clapboard Slate work? but Do it by hand and the Electronic onces that looks like a Bomb timer like its about to Explode. thanks guys.

I actually bought the Opteka 47' slider last week! Got it in the mail yesterday! I really like it, except it makes a slight noise when sliding, although it shouldn't be an issue if you record with a shotgun mic or something. It's great for the price, and great for young filmmakers, like me. Definitely Recommend it.

You have to practice a lot to have good focus all the time, but it isn't really necessary to have autofocus. Also with a follow focus it should be easier. And remember that you don't get arty video with autofocus. Just buy a new lens for the +/- $100 that you don't have to pay on your camera.

simply learn focusing. its super simple and will make all your shots alot better. and it really takes like 20 seconds or so. just forget about autofocus cause its shit. i have a 60D and its great. but I suggest you get a t3i. Because of its controllable audio levels and the swivel screen.

Agreed, plus the autofocus of DSLRs is at the moment not good enough for real use, especially for fast happening scenes. Overall autofocus is great when you don't know what's going to happen but in filmmaking it's better to have full control over what your audience's eyes are drawn to.

hey, I wanted to buy the reduced canon 600d for filmmaking, but i heard that this camera hasn't an autofocus while filming. I haven't much experience, is it so hard to regulate with the manual focus, so its better to buy the (more expensive) 650d?

Russel I just bought at t3i (Cannon 600D in Britain) but I have to have really bright light otherwise the film looks a bit grainy, how do I shoot in low light but still keep the same quality? I want to film some shots a night

The irony is that, when we used to work together more often, I was known for being the unprepared one. This was the first time he ever forgot anything for a shoot ever so I had to bust his balls over it, lol.

That reverse thing definitely takes some getting used to, that's for sure. I didn't have much of an issue with it otherwise, but I'm sure it's a case of getting what you pay for.

when you did that first shot you should of been walking away from the sun depending on the time of day cause you could see the camera mans shadow

low light is almost always going to look grainy. Try getting a prime lens (canon 50mm f1. 8, they are pretty bright and might make things look better
