Atrocity from Spider Man: Edge of Time. I was like, 8 when I first played that game and I still don’t fondly remember the section where it chases you, especially the two specific parts where it tries to break through the windows of the building you’re in and you have about two minutes to close the shutters with a bunch of enemies hounding you. Then there’s the part that almost made me grey-haired, where you’re stuck with it in this claustrophobic chamber and it chases you around, teleporting half the time while you have to extract it’s dna samples thrice. And if it catches you it takes about a third of your health.

Idk if the flood or the gravemind should get on this list any higher than honorable mentions, but I will never forget the first time I played halo 3 and I had just cleared the aa battery and blown truth’s key ship to kingdom come and then after truth left seeing the flood ship crash on earth. It took playing that game with my brother to complete it because the flood is one of the few villains that could stop me from picking up the game(in a good way.

i genuinely liked spiderman 2 (2023)'s iteration of kraven the hunter, genuine chills when you start seeing iconic villains getting slaughtered left and right like they were wild deer, just a shame the game itself was a little disappointing. also glukkons from the PS1 oddworld games, their design was menacing, especially seeing them in cutscenes. kinda shattered some of the illusion though when i found out what they look like without their suit lol

Honestly, Ganon is probably my favorite villain in gaming for one reason: He's literally too angry to die forever. You can defeat him, sure, but all that hate and resentment towards the world will continue on for thousands and thousands of years, and he'll always return. And though he may face defeat, the cycle will merely continue until either Link and Zelda have broken it, or he's taken the world for himself.

Zoran Lazarevic was a pretty cool villain, maybe he didn't have any depth, but he was the classic bad guy who ticked all the right boxes.
Also playing Ghost of Tsushima again, Khotun Khan is a really memorable bad guy as well. Cruel and imposing to the boot
Haven't played OG FF7, but Sephiroth in the remakes steals the screen everytime he appears

Far cry 3 was both great & a disappointment. I know how weird that sounds so I'll explain it like this. The first half of the game is fantastic but as soon as Vass is gone the game falls apart. No not even the NSFW scene with Citra is worth losing Vass. Honestly he should of been the main villain & end boss.

Oh man, Pagan Min was also great, SHODAN and The Many from SS, The Combine if taken time to get into HL2 lore. Great villain is what makes the story really shine and I prefer great villain and meh main character than the other way around.

Handsome Jack should be on the next one. I'm in midst of playing Borderlands 2 again and forgot how much of an a-hole he is with his comments. I didn't forget his shooting of Roland in the back at the end of the main mission.

For me it's Jacob Seed. He doesn't just brainwash the protagonist (Rook) but also the player. We ultimately pull the trigger, doing his work, ending the lives of his enemies (our allies. All he has to do is play the tune.

As a kid, I used to play Quake 4 on my Dad’s PC. That half alien half spider cyborg final boss always terrified me. In fact, most of the abominations from that game will stand out to me.

Jack Baker just looks like some dirty old man but holy crap he scared the crap out of me, time and again. Not sure if he or his wife were worse, awful family.
