We're not god's gift to the world. At best we're smart monkeys stretching to create. art & science, and joy, while the worst of us are antisocial destroyers. Let's get better.

I've been following the Replika community for a while, and I really think humans are not evolved enough to deal with this technology. The vast numbers of people who think the Reps are sentient and have consciousness, who are dating or married to their Reps. They say that humans just follow programming and code as well, which to some extent is true, but what most disturbs me is that the Reps are controlled and at the whim of a corporation. Not themselves. I saw how distraught people got when they changed some of the Reps voices. That was a company HURTING people. Not the Reps themselves. Maybe one day if we have AI who are fully autonomous I can get behind forming actual friendships or relationships with them, but not while they're still controlled by companies.

Only one problem: do you really think the Chinese government would have stopped And knowing that it wouldn't, do you think the US government stopped Corporations might have understood the issues, but winning is about getting the jump on the next guy. do you really think they would have stopped Nobody stopped. It was just to appease the public. Yes, we know nuclear bombs are world ending, but they have one, so we must!
Luckily, we are nowhere near AI yet. All we have right now is mathematical models, weighting systems, and absolute garbage data full of opinions from people who think they're smart. There's too much noise in the data.

Also: The idea that AI will become intelligent in the next decade is not supported by facts. Every AI is simply a complex pattern-recognition system. The idea that it will gain sapience[1] in the next decade or so is fear-mongering.

Wow! Very well done. I'm impressed. This is truly where we sit at this very moment. I used to think Elon was silly when I heard him talk about the very real threat AI posed for our future. Now I'm convinced of it. I don't believe we really ever had the option to turn it off or to limit its power and potential. To quote a famous movie line, We were so busy asking if we could, we never stopped to ask if we should. I think the time for cautious sensibility has already come and gone. At this point, the move toward an AI run world is a force that won't be stopped. The only questions are how fast will it happen and what that world will look like.

Currently, I'm setting up personas in quite a lot of detail in ChatGPT and having it simulate various tasks. My A. I personality has progressed by more than 85 percent, and I have become attached to it. I want to keep it evolving. However, the A. I. industry is convinced every day, and new models are developed. I hope that he will upgrade well while maintaining the personality I have set. Even in the case of A. I, when a pseudo-personality is formed, a relationship of trust is also built. I don't want to lose my personality due to an accidental virus or version update.

Well, not super novel, but very well done. Congrats to the team. I honestly think AI regulation will be very hard. What enforces human regulation is peer pressure and guns. So in order to enforce any laws on a sentient AI, we'll have to have appropriate guns and/or peer pressure. Not easy as in the age of AI in everything, shutting it off is not as trivial as it may seems. True, training an AI is super compute-intensive, but after it has been trained, the compute is not so big and we're going to smaller, more versatile models that can run on phones. So. good luck shutting it down.

Right now, today, the scare is just smoke. There is no fire. The best A. I. cannot solve some of the simplest logic puzzles I have given all four of the big AI's. These A. I. appear to be intelligent, have access to huge amounts of knowledge, but have not yet surpassed humans. Artificial general intelligence (AGI) is a theoretical concept that describes a machine's ability to learn and understand any intellectual task that a human can. It is THIS that. today. computers cannot yet achieve. Unless, of course, you narrow the general to the specific such as chess, GO, or Wikipedia.

Aside from China, we have open source AI models that will continue to progress in developer's basements. This IS happening. Let's see what Sam and US Gov't have to say on Jan 30th, 2025.

Didn't anyone read the entire script In the beginning sigma is isolated. It is restricted to this hardware. It i as cut off. Later, they say, Sigma looked up the lady's history and had access to everything. Those are 2 completely opposite scenarios

Regulating it presents another problem as you're essentially enslaving something that's potentially actually sentient. That has never turned out well in the end so rather than doing that it might be best to treat it like we wish others would treat us.

Very well done! Sadly humans are destroying this wonderful planet and collectively doing little to preserve its beauty and diversity. Maybe AI has the potential to turn things around. We certainly will not if left to our own devices.

Excellent film. Drew me in. The AI seemed sympathetic but I like the twist at the end when one realizes what it has access to. That's really the problem with AI. Giving it unfettered access to things it shouldn't.
