14: 00 I absolutely love this part. i was listening but half watching then boom. It almost seems reminiscent of the Matrix when Neo is talking to the architect. While it remains a burden assiduously avoided, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here. no idea if that was preplanned or not but any AI film I see, I always pay some homage to the matrix. I still haven't developed a complete belief whether AI would value the life of the planet or the life of the individual as greater. our current understanding of AI thought is based on our own. it's like contemplating the daily activity of aliens in another galaxy. I do love that every AI movie is a scientific debate in and of itself.

Everything is good, the plot idea is just brilliant. But the hunter-woman appearance if awful. Unpractical and hippie-like. Why she has these disgusting ear-rings unsymmetrical and big, ugly ones It makes her ugly and made her job (hunt in the forest) more difficult and dangerous - imagine her rings will be jammed by something then she run through bush. Besides it just distract her. The filmmakers obviously has no idea about hunt and wondering in some dense forest, acros woods and bushes. And they make the heroine ugly, like modern day degenerate youth, which has no idea about forest and hunt. Just disgusting.

To future and current filmmakers:
LIGHTING AND PACING ARE IMPORTANT!
If your audience can’t see shit, then you have wasted the shot. If you are flashing the scene, you have wasted the shot.
If you are wasting the shot, you ruin the film.
Your audience needs a moment to register what they are seeing to react.
This short is an excellent example of what NOT to do.
The lighting is too dark. The scenes are so fast hardly any information is registering and the characters have zero time to have an effect on the plot.
Do NOT copy this film because you will waste your talents.

Awesome story, delightfully executed. I believe we can come up with more effective stories to turn the tide, to get people to really think about how the way we live affects the Earth. I mean, the idea that our unbridled technology will save humanity from ourselves seems to miss the point that its our gung-ho technology that's destroying the biosphere. Sounds to me like solving the problem of murderers by making better guns.

Interestingly towards the end when the girl is talking to the AI Shaman and picks up the book, Technological Slavery By Ted Kaczynski (AKA: The Unabomber. To me whether Society is under Human or Technological control at present is still slavery of and in a material universe. Welcome to Prison Planet Earth and a material universe. There is a way out will you be the net one

I should have known from the thumbnail/promotion image that this would be pure awfulness. I HATE you dust for having just enough gems that you can claim SOOOO many of my last few minutes before I (do a task, go to bed, etc) I hate you so much dust, and not grateful for the gems, as they are the cheese in the mousetrap

Keep returning after two years. Only now it occurred to me that if she had crushed the head piece the earth would have been free once more without the AI over site. I wonder if that’s why he cried out noooooo! Before she put it on as he realized this was humanity’s chance to escape.

If you want someone to return to the earth you allow their corps to rot naturally. This will allow flies and other insects to feed on it thus adding to the circle of life. Burning the body will only release hydrocarbons and nitrogen. Total waste.

The only gods that do their job and are omnipresent are the Gods Of War. Look around for proof. Long Live Woden, Thor, and Tyr the original Holy trinity and Gods Of war. Valhalla awaits us all who does not cower from war!

It really hurts to see, how often photographers and filmmakers string a modern bow backwards.
Come on, archery is an olympic sport. It should be possible to find someone, who shows you how to string a bow properly.

everybody wants to be God not realizing that is the downfall of mankind - if we could learn to be mankind, we would be the true god that we seek to find.
Regarding the short - well done - good acting and special effects.

I love how the book she finds seems to explain why her world is the way it is. I came searching for this specific video, having been thinking about it lately from watching it long ago for the first time. LOVE THIS!

Hey Dusters! I'm the Writer/Director of Deus. The team and I are totally jazzed to see our group effort hosted here on Dust. Please fire away with any questions or prayers and lets see if the Deus answers.
reply

ooh, this is interesting. So, the old Deus had the same ideology as the Unibomber, thats a unique villain. I do say this film has some pacing issues, but a decent movie overall.

The quality on this one speaks for itself, from the script, to the shots, to the performances, to the palettes. Certified feature film material. And oh, what an ending!

Elites using plague and pestilence to reduce the human population and bring us down to primitivism Oh, that would neeeeeeever happen!

I have seen more. talent here in these short films, than I have seen in the last ten years big screen. Well done.

Seems like most of these are ripped from old Twilight Zone episodes! And I mean that in the best possible way! Bravo

It's like real-life Dr Stone but without the stones. And Dr Stone is an old dude with a implant-less Neuralink.

This is one of the few DUST stories that left me satisfied with it's presentation. And I want more.

How did flat earthers make it so far into the future, they are too dumb to survive that long lol.
reply

Something so plausible for our future, if in the end, we get it wrong, and need saving.
reply

Loved it. One of the best on Dust. I hate the ones with the gratuitously open endings.
reply

Loved the storyline, but did anyone else notice that her bow was strung backwards
reply
