id been following retts music for about a year before their mother passed and really connected to their music as id been grieving my own mother though she had not passed but we didnt speak for a few years however in may of this year on my brothers birthday my mother passed of covid. i thought id already somewhat grieved her but this was different i had no one other than my brother to lean on. i wasnt allowed to her one last due to her having covid. its now august and im still grieving hard because of lockdown ive not seen anyone for 8 months + and have found this whole situation really difficult because i thought i was prepared but i wasnt. everyday covid is mentioned online, in public i cant get away from the fact my mum has passed. but i know i wouldnt of been able to get this far if it wasnt for retts music so rett (and baum too) if you happen to read this i just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for speaking openly about your mothers passing and grief and for getting me through what is and continues to be the hardest time of my life with your music. i know you both have been through your mothers passing in the last couple year and although i am only a fan i feel connected to you both even more than ever. thank you

My boyfriend recently lost his mother to an addiction. I felt so guilty for grieving her because she wasnt my mother. He put up this wall all he wanted to do was distract himself and not grieve. And all I wanted to do was grieve so it was very hard for us both. When you stick two people in a home during quarantine that are both grieving in different way and different times its very hard. I will grieve that loss for the rest of my life she was basically my mother too and Ive become comfortable grieving her. She had so much compassion for everyone and always was there if I needed her even while she was struggling with her own addiction. This video definitely brought tears but when they started talking about how to cope with a death it hit the spot gave me some what of an idea on how to deal. So thank you buzzfeed.

I don't comment a lot, but this touched my soul deeply. I lost my mom three years ago to stomach cancer. It is beyond comforting to hear that grieving is never linear. You don't get over a loved one's death, you learn to live with it. You honor them by living your life unapologetically. Tears are flowing from the eyes, and I am so glad. It reminds me that yes I miss my mom, but I'm human and this is my body showing me how much I loved her.

I lost my parents in an earthquake in Pakistan in 2005. I miss them every day. I drove home 5 hours on a weekend to be with them. My dad walked all the way to the car to say goodbye and I hugged him for a longtime. That was the last I ever saw him, them. I was able to find my mother but never found my dad's body.

My mom had a brain aneurysm but thankfully survived it. I'll never forget how scary it was, getting the call when she was in the hospital. Every single day I've had with her, since 2009, has been a gift. I could have lost my mom 11 years ago but I've been blessed with all this extra time.

Thank you! Watching this helped me have a better day. We lost our son in March and everyday has been a struggle. Hearing the words of the other mothers whove lost their children and the words of the children who lost their mothers put me at peace. Thank you!

It really means alot to see something like this. I lost both my dad and more recently the love of my life. And I dont have much of a support system or know what is normal or healthy and this really made me feel more comfortable with my grief. Thank you.

The woman 11: 10 who said If it's gonna take you 1, 000 years to heal, let it take 1, 000 years when she was asked what would you say to someone coping with grief. That really resonated with me. I felt truth and comfort in that statement.

I lost my mom to cancer when I was four years old and I still think of all the things I missed out on and the love Ill never get to experience. I lost my child but you lost your childhood that really got me.
