Everybody knows that the Cheetah is the fastest animal in the world. But in the ultimate test of speed vs. endurance, it immediately takes the lead. The cheetah reaches highway speeds in only 3 seconds, but after just 20 seconds covering a distance of 7 football fields in that time! it cant keep going. Lions are built for short bursts of speed, either. They hunt by sprinting to their prey and pouncing on it with leaps of up to 36 feet, almost as long as a semi! More than a few seconds, though, and their muscles tire out
So which animal has the most endurance? The human takes the lead! Speed is for the animal kingdom. We were built for long-distance running, and we top them all! The best weve got in that department is a man named Dean Karnazes, who jogged 350 miles across Northern California without stopping for80 hours and 44 minutes! Thats over 3 days of non-stop running!
