Thrall made Garrosh Hellscream Warchief because he thought Garrosh would take care of the Horde and remember what makes them the Horde through fighting for Azeroth. But all that time Garrosh cared about turning Azeroth into a world of fire chaos blood and ash. He made his own choices as Warchief.
Thrall made a mistake but he wanted to believe there was still good inside of Garrosh. There wasn’t so the mentor killed his student. Thrall didn’t want to kill Garrosh but he did was necessary for the sake of the Horde, Azeroth, Draenor and all the worlds in the universe who would have suffered the pain of injustice from Garrosh Hellscream’s tyranny.
Grommash Hellscream learned from his mistakes and died as a hero of the Horde, but Garrosh died as a villian. Thrall loved both. Grommash Hellscream and his son Garrosh Hellscream.

Not gonna lie, I kinda forgot that garrosh died at the start before I watched this video, apparently also haven't seen the cinematic of gul'dan saying to grommosh what about your son You have lost everything so that was nice to see.
