I know no one is going to read this comment, but I'm going to comment on it anyway.
You know, every time I see comments hurling hate at Blizzard and Activision (which is somewhat right, deserved, IT'S TOO EASY.
Instead, why do we make it a little more difficult:
How to fix the Shadowlands expansion
Shadowlands was a World of Warcraft expansion that generated a lot of anticipation, but ended up being one of the most criticized. Story-wise, it struggled with the introduction of the Jailer (Zovaal, who was perceived as a generic and underdeveloped villain, and his plan seemed forced and disconnected from what players knew about Warcraft. Mechanics-wise, the covenants and progression system (Anima, Sylvanas, the poorly designed Torghast at launch) were aspects that many players didn't enjoy.
If I had the opportunity to improve Shadowlands, here are a few things I would change:
1. Make the Jailer a more fleshed-out villain
One of the main problems with Shadowlands is that the Jailer appeared out of nowhere and was presented as the true architect of all evil in Azeroth, without being properly built up in previous expansions. What I would do is:
Introduce him earlier, perhaps in Battle for Azeroth, as a hidden presence manipulating events from the shadows.
Instead of simply the big bad who was always there, I would make him a more tragic and complex character, perhaps an ancient protector of the Shadowlands who became corrupted by trying to break an unjust cycle of death.
Expand his relationship with Sylvanas, making her loyalty more meaningful instead of her simply being a blind follower.
2. Changes to Covenant Mechanics
The covenant system (Kyrian, Necrolords, Night Fae, and Venthyr) was an interesting concept, but the way players were locked into their choice was frustrating. Improvements:
Allow players to switch covenants without penalties from the start.
Make covenant choices more impactful to the expansion's story and have meaningful consequences.
3. Make Torghast More Dynamic and Replayable
Torghast had a lot of potential, but its design at launch was repetitive and unrewarding. I would improve it by:
Add more variety to enemies and environments, so each raid would feel distinct.
Introduce a more interesting reward system, with more cosmetic items and special abilities unique to each class.
4. More impact on the lore of Death
The Shadowlands are the realm of Death, but in Shadowlands, it didn't feel that way. I would make the expansion:
Explore more about what happens to important characters in Azeroth's history in the afterlife.
Explain more organically why certain characters end up in certain places (like Uther in Bastion.
Add more impact to the consequences of Death in Azeroth, rather than just having it be just another place.
5. Sylvanas with a better narrative
Her character arc in Shadowlands was one of the most controversial. To improve her story:
Make her loyalty to the Jailer for a more believable reason, like a true moral conflict over the fate of souls.
Avoid the rushed final reckoning where she is sent to work in the Maw without the players really feeling like her story had a satisfying resolution.
6. A more impactful ending
The ending of Shadowlands felt hollow because the Jailer was defeated easily and left no lasting impact on Azeroth. To make the ending more memorable:
Have the Jailer accomplish something significant before being defeated, perhaps altering Azeroth in a way that persists in future expansions.
Rather than simply vanishing without a trace, leave clues that his influence lives on in the universe.
---
Conclusion
Overall, Shadowlands had some great ideas, but the execution wasn't great. With a more developed villain, less restrictive mechanics, and deeper lore, the expansion could have been much more memorable and better received by players.
What do you think Would you change anything else

Watching all these Arthas simps makes me laugh. My man was a thoroughly played, easily manipulated and treacherous disappointment of a son, knight and prince.
His legacy is defined by making the wrong choices constantly only to squeeze out a half-hearted bit of a redemption, in the tiniest ways, not being as bad as he could've been at the very end.

Another character story that could be the next (ironically another one whos story has been butchered) is Kael'Thas!
Same type of character like Illidan, he too got turned into a villain, with no return on the right path.
First character discovered when started long ago in TBC, seeing his statues on starting zone

#Arthasdidnothingwrong. Straholme had to be culled there was 0 other option other than just letting the scourge out to the countryside to make more scourge. Had Jaina or Uther stood by him rather than abadone him to Mal'Ganis mind games alone we probably would have never seen him Rise as the Lich King.

This is a joke. The last three expansions were too much to handle and can't be ignored like nothing happened. Shadowlands was the ugliest ever. All WOW lure is gone into something else. NOW they can only try to focus on the void lords and prepare a final to this game.

I hate this Pandaren narration They have terrible pronunciation, diction, and the way they speak makes me feel like my intelligence is being insulted, and like I am watching a cartoon for 3-year-olds instead of one of the few somewhat serious stories in World of Warcraft.

One day, an important character. Today Only 25 anima in the sadoland quest. Something to be forgotten to glorify the rotten writing of one of the most vile xpacs to come from the Blizzard fanfic team. Have Mercy!

Sylvanas was worse than the Lich King, yet he was deleted. Screw Blizzard for bringing him back after the travesty that was Shadowlands. Now he's just a cow they can keep milking.

Arthas did nothing wrong. at 4: 00 is when he was betrayed. Jaina made the biggest mistake of her life right here. IF she stuck with him here she could have helped him.

we hope there are the better surviving parts of Arthas are probably still out there somewhere in the Maw and will be sent to the Arbiter individually.

It's just like Illidan's questline in Legion, but this one seems to be more exciting and there is much more activities to do while the boss fight, I'm hyped
