I was hoping it would record video or something, so that you can travel much more fine units of distance in street view. That way it looks like you're actually moving, not jumping around to different preset spots

If you are doing your family tree genealogy, try entering a surname instead of a street address and you may find where your ancestors harked from and even see businesses there that have that surname.

I live in a small town in Canada where it was first mapped for Streetview in 2009 completely then only updated the main street in 2013.
