The only thing that will happen is it will free up jobs for American programmers. The media and tech companies are always trying to make American workers out to be lazy and/or unqualified when in fact, we have some of the most educated people in the world. There are plenty of qualified individuals in the U. S. who can do these jobs. If companies had not previously abused the opportunity by bringing so many workers here on H1B visas, they wouldn't be having these problems. Some companies try harder to employ foreigners than they try to hire Americans. The U. S. is flooded with marketers, programmers, business and financial analysts, graphic designers, etc, yet we bring people here on H1B visas to do the jobs?

This seems like excellent news for us in EU, if we don't screw it up as well by voting, erm, special people into office. All that talent can go here, all those contracts with the rest of the world can go to us. It's not a 'crackdown' it's making immigration make sense. We send troops to different parts of the world and play police then the refugees come to Europe and then come to us for assistance and they vote Democrat to keep getting free stuff then the cycle continues.

I've been around Silicon Valley and SF great places! It's a huge melting pot there I can understand why they would be concerned. As for how largely it would affect tech companies, i'm not sure. Maybe it will hinder. We'll see.

This is B. S. Many jobs in the tech industry are being taken by foreigners doing the job cheaper. I've seen it first hand. Some of these jobs can be done by Americans who only have an associates degree.
