It-s that time of the year when networks drop sickly sweet holiday cartoons. When it comes to animated specials Angry Nerd typically loathes them, but will things change when he gets a visit from the Ghost of Christmas Specials Past?

Some of these cultural references are beyond me Chris.
I fail to see how Miracle on 34th Street (original, not the remake) can ever be bettered by these Johnny come lately animations of moving images.
And if that isn't enough to get me in the Christmas mood I will endlessly listen to the intro music of Harold Lloyd. And perhaps watch a few episodes, followed by some Laurel and Hardy - don't even mention that dreadful animated series with the off key title music either!
You young whippersnappers have no idea of the true meaning of nostalgia of Christmas past. :)

I enjoied Family Guy's Road to the North Pole, Rick and Morty's Anatomy Park, of course the Futurama Christmas specials, American Dad's For Whom the Sleigh Bell Tolls, I enjoyed Invader Zim's Christmas Special, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. As for which ones I hated, I can easily say I didn't like Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, and pretty much every short where the main character either injures or -kills- Santa Clause, and the rest of the episode is devoted to trying to -fix- Christmas, because this has happened way too many times.

I watch Nightmare Before Christmas around Halloween, even though TV puts it on at Christmastime. But all Christmas aside, serious question, what are your real thoughts on Chris Hardwick? Back in the days of The Soup, he was my idol. Then he went on to become a master of geekdom, which still made me pretty happy. But now he's involved in EVERYTHING, and hosting AVENGERS PANELS AT EVERY CONVENTION EVER! And it pisses me off. He's a total sell-out now, and I liked him a lot more when no one knew who he was. Thoughts?

I would say that nightmare before Christmas could be looked at in a few diffrent perspectives. One shopping at that time of year litterally is a nightmare. sorry had to go there. But also i think its about the transitions between holidays. Granted thanks giving is between, but it seems that christmas starts up around that time anyway. Thats when you see the holiday commercials starting up. Plus black friday, and cyber monday are a mad rush for Christmas gifts. What do you think?

I absolutely HATE grandma got run over by a reindeer. It saddens me to think how hard the animators worked on this piece of shit. Not funny, badly voice acted, and the story is just awful. Exactly what you think would happen when you take the story of the song, in which the story is simply -grandma got run over by a reindeer- and try to make that into a full animated movie. I dare to say this may actually be the WORST Christmas special/Holiday movie out there!

Although it sounds kinda cheesy, I do like the Charlie Brown Christmas special and also the Futurama episodes were always good too. And in my opinion I feel that The Nightmare Before Christmas is a mix of both and Tim Burton linked those two holidays very very well. I might even throw in a Christmas themed action movie in the mix too

I put The Nightmare Before Christmas as a holiday movie, since the movie's plot and themes are more Christmas-like than Halloween. Also, as The Blockbuster Buster pointed out, Jack Skellington works like a Reverse-Grinch: he tries to bring Christmas to all and nearly ends up ruining it.
Also, Zero the Lit-Nosed Ghost Dog.

The teen titans go special the show in general really the disappointment of fans far and wide why cartoon network why. And yet you give us shows like adventure time and regular show which are great but look inside you stop showing uncle grandpa and teen Titans go

Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas movie. Jack's story arc is driven by his interaction with the Christmas holiday. Even though it begins and ends with his celebration of Halloween, he finds a renewed sense of fulfillment because of the spirit of Christmas.

I count Nightmare before Christmas as a kind of faux Halloween and Christmas special, because you can watch on both holidays and feel it fits both. My favorite Christmas special has to be a Charlie Brown Christmas, but I hate Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer.
