What if instead of distributed equally you're given 2 million dollars when you turn 18?
With limitations to that money of course.
You get given a special card which the money on it can not be transfered into real cash and an ID must be shown when using the card.
The card can only be used at special locations like grocery stores for food or going to pay bills. You would have a limit on what type of bills you are allowed to pay with this card. For example you wouldn't be allowed to spend $100, 000 on a car or a home. If you truly want something that expensive you'll truly have to work for it. But you could spend $30, 000 on a decent vehical and $80, 000 on a decent home.
You wouldn't be allowed to use the card to pay for gas for your vehical. You wouldn't be allowed to use the card to pay for your tv subscriptions or hulu and netflix accounts. You wouldn't be able to use the card to invest in stock markets or invest in businesses. Only for your own personal living necessities like electricity, food, water, transportation and shelter.
Setting limitations to what someone can use this money for will make it so they can't just go out and be arrogant with it but so they can still live comfortably if they don't make it big in life.
The reason why i say 2 million dollars is because of this.
A rental payment each month of $600. 000 would cost $370, 000 in 50 years and $740, 000 in 100 years which leave $260, 000 before you even hit one million. Still leaving you with another million to spend on other necessary bills like electricity, water and food. Everyone can get a small rental place for that price if some things are changed a little. If you buy a home its even better because youll save money over time so theres an incentive for people to buy homes again.
You would be able to shelter yourself comfortably for life but you still wouldn't be able to live a life of luxury unless you truly worked for it. Even with two million dollars you would still have to have some form of income other than the card given to you. Like stated you wouldn't be able to use the card to pay for gas for your vehical or repairs that would need to be done to your vehical. You would still have to cover insurance yourself for the vehical or insurance for anything else that you own. You would still have to work if you wanted to buy luxury brands of clothing or alcohol or go to concerts and on vacations. The money would simply be used to make sure you are fed and have shelter and have water and transportation and access to medical support if needed.
I don't like the idea of just giving everyone money if they can just spend it on whatever they want. But i do enjoy the idea of giving money to people if they are only allowed to spend it on things which keep them alive and give them a better chance.

The only study mentioned in this video is fake. Not a single study done by any organization, or country government has shown that people would have a decrease in work effort or enthusiasm. On the contrary, ALL of the studies done in Europe where a UBI was experimented had promising and positive results. Homeless people were able to get housing, feed themselves, and spent the money wisely. Those countries such as Finland that tested it on whole cities showed a substantial decrease in stress related problems for all, especially among middle-class and poor communities. The whole society was happier and healthier, and the economy was doing much better.
Also, the assumption that we would change back to the same system and economy we had now is a typical US misconception by people who don-t understand what switching to UBI actually is. It is a transitional period. A period in which society is in a fluctuating state. UBI is not an end. It is the means to see an end. By using this system to devalue money, people are not as burdened by it, and have more freedom to do what they want with their lives. This does not mean that we can-t fall back into the societies of today, but it-s not very likely. Even now, people are willing to work, not because they need money, but because they want to. To some, it gives them a sense of purpose; to others, they want to see how far they can reach and leave as big a mark as possible on the world so they are remembered. This will not simply go away because they can-t force people to work for them with money. They will offer people incentives that benefit the worker to earn that worker-s contribution. This has the added advantage of how everyone could get a job/career they want instead of just any job they can get to survive. This would massively increase productivity and quality of products in society, as the motivation from doing work a person enjoys boosts morale and creativity. The toxic mindset that UBI would get society nowhere, or we would fall back to where we are and the like is the thought process of a typical capitalist from America to afraid of change and dependent on monetary value to actually do the research. Being afraid of change is why the US has long since ceased being -great-
I have spent the last 12 years researching UBI, and find misinformation like this video frankly offensive and counterproductive to healthy thinking. Try to be a little more responsible when giving information, even if just citing that this is just you opinion.

I recently had a realization, don't know why I hadn't thought of this before; the wealthiest people on the planet aren't as wealthy in the traditional sense as you might think. In the days of old, the ruling class owned land, gold, people, etc. tangible assets. Most rich people hold their wealth in stocks. But the only reason that stock has value is becasue millions of other people have bought that stock thus increasing it's stored value. So if all these billionaires were to cash out, they would destroy the stock price and pocket all the investors money. So it's actually a very convoluted statement to call these people so rich when the fact is it's other people's money that is making them rich in the form of the other people's investments. Of course, they are still ridiculously rich to our standards without the stock shares but not as much as the media says. For example, 85% of Bezos' -net worth- is simply Amazon stock. which is everyone else's money lol.

There will always be greed the issue or problem is trying to make sure that everyone had atleast the opportunity to make a basic comfortable income where they have a roof over their head, food, clothes, job's, health care ect people can still be rich but just because there are rich people it shouldn't mean others go without most people are perfectly happy being comfortable and having the basics where they're comfortable it's absolutely disgusting how we have several empty homes some have been empty for year's and decades yet we have homeless people who would greatly benefit living in those homes especially as they try to get back on their feet it's honestly just awful that we would even allow such a system to go on

This would work if everyone gets paid the same and then when you go out to spend that money, the person collecting it, like a CEO of a company or something, would not get to keep the money they accumulated but be forced to return any excess they earned that is larger than the set basic income back to the government which would then redistribute that money into healthcare, infrastructure and so on. That way everyone wins and no one loses and no one will get any richer on the expense of others and the society as a whole is still moving forward in terms of developing new technologies and so on

I am okay that this WhatIf agrees with the human norm of not giving free money without applying a job or being an entrepreneur. But the government should be committed in giving free electricity, water, Internet service and abolishing all toll fares as an effort in lowering the cost of living which indeed lowering the burden of people! Humans need to work to obtain money to buy whatever they want, but they don't deserve to pay up unnecessary levies like parking fees, housing quick rents, utilities, etc

I was thinking about this earlier. If everyone got 32K then there probably wouldn't be any businesses to mass produce goods and services to buy. This would in turn absolutely cripple us in progress and development. Tech, imports/exports, medicine, public services, large scale farming, and general everyday things we take for granted would be decimated.

If everyone was rich, we would be focusing more on creation and collectively working together under one universal mission. For most of us, our mission is to be rich and running away from poverty which is wrong and sounds like some gods plans to keep us in their chain of labour force.
