This is back when cartoons and shows were good! Not all this politically correct BS and everybody getting offended by a joke! And even our cartoons and kid TV shows had a lot of adult innuendo in it. Which made it not terrible to watch for the parents But also made it so whenever I got older whenever you watch some of my stuff, it is actually entertaining 30 plus years later! The '90s was truly the golden era of television. When TV shows were 26 episodes long they went for an entire season meeting a full school year essentially. And none of this eight or 13 episodes or 10 episodes crap! Granted the budgets on new TV shows go to like $10 million episode, which is freaking insane amount of money but that's also why they only make 10 or 13 episodes a year for any TV show.

Home Improvement defined my childhood I was 4 when it come out so i basically grew up with the family my parents watched it from the beginning and being that I was 4 I watched what they watched but I ended up loving it and i remember things like when Randy had a cancer scare because of a goiter on his neck that same year I had a friend in school that developed cancer in a growth on his shoulder it was like a freaking baseball and he missed most of the year, so that was a hard episode for me to watch. My family then would watch it for hours and hours when it went into syndication. It just came out all seasons on Netflix. I haven’t restarted it yet, but I’m super excited.

I remember the uproar the Dallas finale had on Canadian TV. CBC (who still aird a small percentage of US programming back then) had aired the series since the beginning, decided to anger hockey fans at the same time. Apparently, Game Two of the Wales Conference (now the Eastern Conference) Final between Pittsburgh (who I was rooting for) and Boston was scheduled that night along with the Dallas finale. CBC did the unthinkable and show the Dallas finale and then air the hockey game JOINED IN PROGRESS! In the end, it didn't hurt me since the Penguins lost that game en route to winning four straight games to their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance.

Having been born in July 87, and these being my coming into consciousness years’ safe to say that being 5 years old in 1991, that was the literal beginning of everything I knew that began to define me as a child at least the pop culture aspect of it anyway parents couldn’t just toss their kids a tablet and not worry about them for hours on end for the most part, and actually loved watching cartoons with us because even kids cartoons back then were still written with so many adult jokes and innuendos in mind that only they’d get but would fly right over our heads lol. Looney Tunes will always be king of that though.

For the Simpsons episode it was Michael Jackson’s actual voice for the talking parts, but they had to use a soundalike cover artist to do the singing parts (something to do with legal issues) Jackson was a fan of the show though and was excited to be a part.
However over the last few years the episodes have mostly been erased from existence due to the allegations against him regarding kids, which have been known for a long time but I guess the last few years Hollywood execs finally grew a conscience or something.

You failed to mention that Michael Landon passed away from pancreatic cancer on July 1, 1991, at age 54, a mere two months after he made his final TV appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, in which he shared his diagnosis to the world. Also, in November 1991, Magic Johnson announced that he was HIV positive and was retiring from the NBA. 1991 was a memorable year full of highs and lows, but still a great time to be alive.

1991 was a year of transition for tv shows, as favorites of the 80s like Cosby, golden girls, growing pains, whos the boss, , Dallas, night court and mac guyver were ending their runs while new comers like fresh prince, family matters, living color, Roseanne, Simpsons, home improvement and Seinfeld were about to dominate the 90s

I was 9 years old in 1991, and now I have a 9 year old son. Life really was simpler back then. The best part was everyone watched the same shows and therefore we all could talk about the same thing at school. Nowadays, there are so many streaming platforms with various things that no one ever watches the same stuff.

91 must be peak television. It peaked there. It was never quite as good as then. Network was really good, cable was in full swing. I remember literally everything from this recap. In just a few short years the internet would arrive and change things forever. But in 91, TV was everything.

Was a dad of three, 1991. Poor and worn out, working and training, yet to be knocked down. Friday night was, as was always then, TV night. Silly shows with simpleton plots taken seriously because it was time for the serenity as one tuned out. Those were the days thought had no end.

God I used to love watching those cartoons back when I was a kid. In Britain, cable T. V was still relatively new to us at this point, so if you were lucky enough to have it, it was a genuine novelty/luxury. Home Improvement and Dinosaurs were my fav sitcoms of thios decade XD

You forgot to mention that the pilot for Are You Afraid of the Dark aired on Nickelodeon as a Halloween special on October 25, 1991. It would become a full-fledged series the following year on August 15, 1992, as part of the inaugural SNICK lineup.

IMO, from the fashion worn by people, 1991 was the last year of vestiges of the 80sbright clothing. Once Grunge exploded in late 1991 and early 92, clothing became darker in color, and the Shaggy look of chin facial hair for men became the norm.

The fact that cops could beat a human like that is crazy. Those cops should have gone to jail for life. This is why the system is so corrupt. It isn’t about racism it is about humanity. No cop should be allowed to do that. Crazy.

Sorry to report an error, but Johnny Carson’s final Tonight Show aired on Friday, May 22, 1992. Jay Leno took over The Tonight Show on May 25, 1992, the following Monday. Your wording of the transition is wrong.

Sort of a weak 91 timeline. Alot more cool / interesting happened, only if the video was 20 minutes you could have gotten to them BUT I guess Weird History is very busy trying to keep churning these timelines out.

The year Dallas went off the air. Best primetime soap ever. For the younger generations out there, that have never seen it, it is worth watching even all these years later if you are into those kinds of shows.

This is the year when Hair Metal met Grunge with a slight sprinkle of Metallica. August and September brought us Metallica's Black album and September brought us Nirvana's Nevermind. It was a great time in music.

I watch dinosaurs every weekend! Actually I believe it was part of TGIF or something like that. But that was one of my favorite shows growing up. And I still have every episode on my Plex server to enjoy

I love these timeline videos, but unfortunately as a non American, the TV timeline is not very relevant to me. I wish you'd include a little snippet about British and even Australian TV to spice it up.
