So while the Chinese alchemists never found a compound for eternal life, they did find something that would go on to shape all of civilizations, something that has caused many tragic moments in human history, and yet still gives us when we look up in celebration at a colorful night sky

There is a mention of Gunpowder in Kautilya's Arthashastra, which was written way before Chinese claim to invent gun powder, furthermore it was prohibited to be used in warfare. Indians understood it's destructive potential.

Humanity went from Swords which could kill a handful of people to Gunpowder which could kill a large group to atom bombs which could devastate a whole city or even the planet on a large scale. Now that's progress.

The original name is huoyao (Flame Medicine) if you're going to tell origins at least tell the real name of it. Typical whites even make it looks like their atrocities is Chinese fault.
