What Your Love Language Says About You

What Your Love Language Says About You

So, what is your love language? And what does it say about you? When it comes to relationships, no two people show their love in exactly the same way. To help everyone understand the different ways one can give and receive affection, marriage counselor Dr. Gary Chapman developed the concept of the Five Love Languages, which include words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch

I'm a bit lost since I took the test with an almost even split between all 5 love languages. Quality Time being the highest at 23% and the lowest Receiving Gifts at 17%, the rest at 20%.
Yet, it also feels very accurate as I do really value undivided attention, spending time with and being heard and listened to by the person I love a bit more than the rest. Thoughtful and creative gifts are great and meaningful but in moderation preferred. Too much of that and I feel uncomfortable and guilty for some reason. With the things / actions mentioned that can really hurt a person with their respective primary love language, basically all really hit me the same hard way, again with Quality Time definitely leading and Receiving Gifts at the bottom with slightly less impact.
Overall it feels like I need or want all of em, or rather a bit of each one. I like to express my affection and love pretty much the same way. It would explain not being sure for such a long time which my main one is. I also can't imagine it being easy to more or less balance that in a relationship. I'm not sure if this makes sense to anyone else but decided to share it anyway.

I interpret quality time a bit differently than here, I feel that to be constantly around someone with their undivided attention, is only a partial view of it. Where as the more important part of it for me is the quality of the time spent together, as in the moment spent felt meaningful, and didn't feel obligatory, or clingy (I can't think of a better word) Like the time spent was thoroughly enjoyed, and not draining. This may just be my flawed interpretation, though. Like for me time spent virtually as in over the phone, through text/e-mail, and even in an online game, (though less so so than the others, can feel really draining. Since it feels like its just meaningless, unenjoyable even. This is probably just me though i tend to have odd interpretations of things. So face to face time for me is more meaningful and enjoyable than virtual communications.

I am definitely a quality time and words of affirmation guy. Service is also good, but not as import as the other too. I just wanna be around the people I love the most. As for the words of affirmation, it isn't so much as people telling me how great I am (really, I'd prefer if people don't do that) but rather hearing people tell me what it is that they actually love in me. The little things that I do that catch their attention. The things that they notice in my personality and the way I talk. Those kind of things.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, I am not a gifts person at all. That isn't to say that I don't appreciate gifts, it's just that I don't value materialistic things as much as I do the relationship itself.
Beautiful video, as always.

one thing I noticed about being in a long distance relationship and still in it right now, my love language is physical touch but while commiting to my relationship I realized iv been giving my partner gifts, spending time with him, telling him how much he means to me, and even though we cant cuddle or anything like that we both tell eachother how much we wish we could and because of that we want to meet eachother more and more because our love language is physical touch. yes its hard because we cant show eachother that kind of affection but we still show we love eachother through different love languages, but because our language is physical touch the more we fight to be together.

I used to be positive that my love language was words of affirmation with quality time at a close second. I didn't realize until about 30% of the way through the quiz how much I valued physical touch, or how I long to touch others to show support, concern, and care, even though looking back it should've been obvious to me lol
If anyone's curious
Physical Touch: 37%
Quality Time: 27%
Words of Affirmation: 20%
Acts of Service: 13%
Receiving Gifts: 3%

I have just got into a relationship with someone for about awhile now and we've both figured out that were highly into physical touch but in a few years or so I would have to be away for about 2+ years which I don't want to be away but I am forced to I think it would affect a bit of our relationship since were not ganna be used to ldr but I am looking for advice to deepen the relationship even when I am away from her because she means a lot to me.

Words of affirmation is what I value the most, whether I'm on the giving or receiving end for any type of interaction with people, and then to follow up those words of affirmation with acts of service whenever possible. When I do receive gifts, the most meaningful and memorable ones to me are ones that help me to have less stress by getting some practical needs met, for example a friend filling up my gas tank on my birthday

Our love language is physical touch. It was really hard since pandemic happened. Both of us struggle since we always crave for touch. However, since we trust and always assure each other then it wont be a problem for us. Haha im just sharing my experience, always assure ur partner and please trust each other and communicate with them to avoid conficts.

As per the quiz, my top ranking is physical touch, and pretty close below that, quality time. Which makes perfect sense because the most romantic date I can think of is going out to a quiet, remote hill on a summer night, throwing out a blanket, and just laying together, looking up at the stars with no distractions. Not even a word needed.

1. Quality time 37%
2. Physical touch 30%
So true I need to know u're listening and u're there for me. Physical touch comes after that, I'm a very touchy person so knowing that I can at least get a hug from u means the world to me. I'm a giver not really a reciver of gifts. I receive appreciation and love from giving gifts.

Mine is fooood. Way to my heart: food. Ways I express love: cooking for others, offering them a snack or a bubble tea to take their mind of of all the shit they have to deal with that we call life. Way I worm myself into the hearts of others (or try): taking them out to dinner, sending chocolates.

i took the quiz but i dont quite understand it, is the type of love you like to receive of give? becuase i know i like to give homemade gifts to people i care about, but i like receiving quality time. so does this video relate to what i like to receive or give? im very confused.
reply

I do like distance but I'm also big on physical touch but only from ppl I care for like family, friends or a partner. I despise when strangers touch me like my teachers will touch my shoulder and I'll get upset but a single touch from a friend makes me feel light and happy
reply

So let me get this straight, if i like doing acts of service to show love does that mean I only enjoy the same thing done to me? Similarly if my girlfriend likes buying me gifts does that mean in order to show love I should do the same? I hate buying gifts its too stressful
reply

My primary language is Acts of Service. My secondary is Gifts.
Quality Time for me is at the very bottom. Because usually that time is spent with me entertaining the woman, or catering to her in some type of way and I'm not getting anything out of it.

reply

Quality time, act of service, and physical touch are the most important for me when it comes to relationships. I prefer someone who enjoys spending time with me at the same time someone who is dependent, reliable, caring, and understanding.
reply

Quality time won by just 30%! Then acts of service 23% Reviving gifts & Words of affirmation both 17% and lastly, Physical touch 13% (which I dislike xD) But other than that the graphics look pretty equal, I'm quite impressed by it!
reply

I have no idea what mine is. Gift giving, physical touch and act of service make me extremely uncomfortable. And when someone praises me, ok feel that don't deserve it. Or if they say I love you, they just want something from me.
reply

Mine is physical touch and words of affirmation and I'm in a long distance relationship right now. The physical touch is a bit tricky but messages that describe the action helps relieve the feeling quite a bit
reply

Its funny how my main love-language is physical touch, and I always feel touch-starved, but I also have sensory issues and I hate certain types of touch from certain people.
A hard life, really.

reply

I think my love language incorporates a little of everything but physical touch is a particularly big thing for me. Nothing quite like having a girlfriend hug me from behind or play with my hair.
reply

Quality time 37%, then almost the same physical, then it was some dish(probably sth about helping out) and words and gifts were very small numbers. Interesting!
reply

Ha, I did finish test and it showed me that I have 3 major languages, lol. Does that mean I can use only one or I need all three to be involved to be happy?
reply

Ive felt like none of the 5 love languages speak to me, its not like I dont love people or I dont feel attraction. I simply dont care for any of the 5
reply

My top two are words of affirmation and physical touch. I said my top two cuz they're basically tied-
I also really appreciate quality time though!
