Only got it thanks to the first clue, knowing he has a grave at Pere Lachaise and more or less the time frame... None of the other clues until the mention of being famous for operas would have helped me otherwise... Didn't know about Beef Rossini haha
reply

I guessed Rossini from the first clue, but checking his dates on Wikipedia I found it given that Rossini was born on the 29th of February 1792. Perhaps he should have been born in 1793, then he would have had so many more birthdays.
reply

I knew it couldn't be Rossini due to the clue 1793, I knew he was born on 1792 so I was really scratching my head!
You obviously made an uncharacteristically rare mistake sir, so can I have the 100 points anyway Mr Green? :)

reply

I would have had 100 had you said 1792 instead of 1793. Rossini was born on leap day 1792. My standing joke was that William Tell (the opera) isn't that old, because the composer has had less than 60 birthdays to date.
reply

First time I ever got 100, but I never knew [this composer] met Beethoven -- or I had forgotten, and I've read about three Beethoven biographies including the massive Jan Swafford tome. It was just a lucky guess.

-Tournedos Rossini- is one of the most famous steak dishes, and was created and named in honour of the Italian composer Gioachino Antonio Rossini by the 19th-century chef Casimir Moissons, one of his close friends.
reply

I flunked. I'm not into opera. I forget their names. I did know it was the -Thieving Magpie- composer by third clue, but I couldn't remember his name. There's a famous picture of Rossini and Beethoven meeting.
reply

I took a wild (correct) guess on #1 but wasn't sure. I was a bit more sure on #2. I loved the tidbit about the beef dish. But I was completely certain on #5, so I'll happily take 60 points.

Got 100%, because it's common sense that Gioachino Rossini would be the only composer to be born in Italy and than passed in Paris at the classical Era. - Bob Hada (Schoolspianist246).

Clue one allowed me to make a -lucky guess-. Without it I wouldn't have known anything before the last 7th hint which of course confirmed my lucky guess. So 100 lucky points?
