0: 42 The Jurchens, who after some PR consultancy changed their name to the Manchus.
1: 00 The Jin after some more PR consultancy changed their name to the Qing.
Which is pretty much accurate. The Jurchens once had a Jin Dynasty that conquered half of China's Song Dynasty back in the 12th century and abducted the Song Emperor.
Even though both the Jin and Song were eventually vanquished by the Mongols, old grudges die hard.
So when the Jurchens rose against the Ming Dynasty and established a new Jin Dynasty (known as Later Jin to distinguish from the 12th century one, the Ming no doubt used the similarity in their names to rouse patriotic fervour to resist the Jurchen barbarian invaders.
So first the Jurchens changed their name to the Manchus, and then rebranded their empire to the Qing in order to distinguish themselves from the barbarians that conquered the Northern Song Dynasty. The rebranding was no doubt a success as the Qing actually had some success in convincing some of the Ming generals to defect in mopping up the Ming remnant as the Qing conquered the rest of China.

Guy knows a little bit history but not that much. You gotta know the difference between Qing dynasty China, republic of China (roc) and people’s republic of China (prc. The first two signed some unfair treaties and concede some lands, while prc didn’t do so and actually took some back. Man probably though China had always been prc

one of the reasons why the 1969 border war DIDNT go nuclear was because the soviets asked the americans if they could nuke the chinese and they gave them a very stern no. this had the effect of the chinese now seeing the soviets as their primary adversary, replacing the US (for the time being)

An interesting topic. But the super hectic presentation tanks the quality of this video as it tries to rush the whole complex background into under 5 minutes. No subscription from me for such telegram style presentations despite the good topic and the presented facts. Slow it down some.

The Sino-Soviet War was the time when in the Soviet Union a joke has been born USSR dropped a rubber bomb on China, 5 million men died, and the meme The last Chinese warning (Chinese diplomats in the UN issued the last warning threatening the nuclear war pretty much once a week)

Because the Qing Dynasty was a period when China was conquered and ruled by the Manchus. The Manchu rulers didn't care about reparations or territorial concessions to foreign countries; their sole concern was maintaining their rule over the Han Chinese and preventing any overthrow.

IIRC, formally Tannu Tuva was not annexed but willingly asked USSR to join it in 1944 (no, not the way Baltic trio and Poland did in 1939-1940.
Interesting fact: phisicist Richard Feynman was fascinated with Tannu Tuva since childhood and passiontly desired to visit it.

Please, don't disseminate false information! Mongols or Northern Yuan Dynasty never been a client state of Ming. Even Mongols captured Ming Emperor Yingzong in 1449, and made him shepherd. Please, use a reliable sources.

Those Jurchens were really good with their marketing, Manchu sounds a lot fancier than Jurchen, less nomadic more civilized. And changing the name to Jin and later Qing was also good at giving it a Chinese vibe.

So what, the chinese annexed all of canada east of the Manitoba border, the entirety of the west coast, and washington, DC, in the past 25 years.
They owe us all reparations.

The question is wrong. China obviously want Siberia. The truth is China had been occupied by tartar since 1644. China can't even save herself until 1912.

Nice and interesting content but the narrator always speaks too fast. This behavior is intentional, hostile and frivolous. Such a shame.
