Why was Kazakhstan the last to leave the USSR?

Why was Kazakhstan the last to leave the USSR?

Kazakhstan left the USSR four days after Russia did. Making it sole remaining state in the Soviet Union. But why? Denis: I think it's also worth noting that Kazakhstan's former president-for-almost-life Nursultan Nazarbayev, and back then first secretary of the Kazakh communist party, was wildly seen as a potential successor to Gorbachev or at the very least an incredibly influential player in Soviet politics, which helps explain his (and Kazakhstan's) reluctance to leave the USSR

I wish us Swedes would just merge with Norway and Finland already. I mean, there's already economic deals between the nations that trade between them is essentially pain free. And even though we have three distinct languages, Norwegian is quite easy to understand and almost all Fins speak Swedish already. And culture? Pfft, barely any difference honestly. We're leaving the Danes out because. well, NO ONE understand what the hell the Danes are saying. :)
This was a long-winded way of saying I want to live in a country called Swenoland or something

Not only that, Nursultan Nazarbayev was promised Vice-President/Prime-Minister of the USSR position by Gorbachev. Also 16th of December was symbolic date as on 16th of December there were mass protests against the Soviet Rule, these were the first mass protests for independence in any of the Soviet Republics.
One of the biggest mistakes Yeltsin added was not inviting Karimov( head of Uzbekistan) and Nazarbayev to Belavezha Accords

Kazakhstan greatest country in the world all other countrys are run by little girls.
Kazakhstan number one exporter of potassium!
Other countries have inferior potassium.
Kazakhstan home of the tinshein swimming pool it's length thirty metre ans width six metre.
Filtration system a marvel to behold it removes 80 percent of human solid waste.

Why, Isn't it obvious?
The Soviet anthem was too awesome and they didn't want to leave it behind.
Oh and majority of the population wasn't really Kazakh, so full Independence wasn't really rushed with anticipation like in other more ethnically homogenous areas of the Soviet Union

I would have thought that with all that potassium and the cleanest hookers, the Soviet Union stood a real chance at making a comeback. But the envious world just could not allow for such very nice place to bear the mantle of the great bear.

Newest Video Suggestion Idea: Why the Soviet Union didn t annexed like the way it did with Baltic Countries after World War 2 despite being promised in the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact aka the Soviet-German Non Aggression Pact?

Putin: I decided to restore USSR.
Tokaev: so you've decided to finally listen to what we tell you to do? Great, first we need to discuss the capital and nuclear weapons transfer.
Putin: no, wait, not like that!

reply

another reason Moscow was still allowed a seat at the security council (iirc) was they agreed to take on the foreign debt of the now dead USSR.
which acts in stark contrast to the USSR not taking on the tsars debt.

reply

It always made me laugh how Moscow was technically the capital of a country that didn t countries the city for a few days, and then the capital of a country that didn t even exist for almost 2 weeks.
reply

But, Gorbachev didn't advocate for the USSR as it was before! He wanted to reform it noticeably. It's just that most of the people in that time wasn't satisfied with anything less than independence.
reply

Alternate history: Kazakhstan successfully convinces the UN and former soviet republics that they are legitimately still the USSR, getting all the USSR nukes, security council seat, etc.
reply

In short: Kazakstan was the last nation to sign the documents of 'nations that are no longer part of soviet union' and there for never was more soviet than any other state at the time
reply

The USSR simply changed its name and remains the pawn of absolute evil. George Lucas tried to warn us and you spat in his face. And so the rat, and evil with it, triumphed.
