AC VS DC - Pain Test (Experiment) Muranaman: When I was a teenager, we would try something similar,
We had 2x AC to DC converters, the first one was to get power from the socket to DC (sub 14V.
The second one, we connected the secondary coil to the DC, and the primary coil to the output (where you touch.
Just interrupting that DC power flow between the transformers, was horrendously painful on the output we were holding it.
Try: AC -> DC 0-14V ==> DC -> AC (is still DC, but only when the connection between the first and second coil is interrupted.
We had a guy chicken out at 8V, another friend went to 14V. I myself tested a good 20V (that's about 200+V in the body, but you'll get one shock, rather than 50/60Hz.
just to say, the pain tolerance is different from person to person.
And before your heart gives out (it is surrounded by conductive muscle tissue and liquids, your biceps and pectoral muscles will hurt like crazy, almost as if they will tear off the bone.
So far I've had no heart attack from this yet!

Brave lad! In my life, before, and after graduating as an electrical & electronic engineer (>45 years ago) I have had countless shocks off just about every kind of electrical device. From electric drills to food mixers to TVs, PCs, Disk drives (BIG refrigerator size, 1980's style) to garden equipment. Fortunately I learned early on, and before I even went to University, to avoid touching live wires and ground with both hands (as you were doing) and when testing inside operating TVs (CRT style) always to keep one's left hand in a pocket, probe ONLY with the right (even if normally left handed) because the current then flows far less if not at all throught the left side of one's body and hence the heart en-route.
To RE-EMPHASISE the point well made in Great Scott's video DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! You only need to make one mistake. and you're dead!

Hello, to anybody who has the understanding, based of 5: 53 tables, can anyone explain how come he was able to handle it at 30V-DC with 9. 9 mA going through his body and couldn't handle it with 20V-AC with 7. 5mA going through his body - I am not sure I understand this part, my comprehension would be that with 9. 9mA, it should hurt more regardless of his body's resistance in AC or DC - the flow of electrons is much bigger in this scenario in DC and he is still fine while with a lower AC current it hurts hime more, I don't get it.

You feel pain at 8v AC?
I tried this with an old model train transformer (one 18v AC rail and two 16v DC rails (labelled 12v, I assume the components have aged, the thing was made in the 1950s) with my fingers on the AC plugs and felt nothing, not even when I liked my fingers so they were more conductive.
I metered the thing and it's roughly 18v (17. 85v and 50hz)

we did an experiment on class that was see who could resist more. We took a rheostat connected to 230Vac and we put our index finger and our thumb next to each other in the rheostat and then slowly separate them until it is too painful and then mesure the voltage. I get up to 100V and my classmate up to 110V

If I live in a home with a solidly grounded system which causes harmonica and unbalanced loads do you have any ideas that I could buy or put in my home to stop or minimize the harmonica and unbalanced loads?

Holy shit. i honestly would have Never thought u looked like that lol i was expecting some really old lookin man that lives in his electronics books daam dude i think to say youv found your niche is n understatement!

My instrumentation instructor Mr Aertz (also a German) tried to hang on to an old school megger while a student was cranking it. He was heard saying yyyyy oooooo ccccannn ssstopp nnoow!
