In 1789, the French Monarchy's habit of supporting democratic popular revolutions in North America backfired. Today, we're talking about the French Revolution. Across the world, people were rising up to throw off monarchies, and Louis didn't see the writing on the wall until it was too late. Today we'll talk about how the French Revolution unfolded, and what (if anything) was really accomplished. You'll learn about stuff like the National Assembly, the Tennis Court Oath, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, the guillotine, Robespierre, and a bunch of other kind of unbelievable details. I disagree with the French Revolution being so revolutionary as they never really changed until way into the 19th century. It brought back monarchy and allowed someone like Napoleon to happen and the wars that followed. The American Revolution was way more important. It showed how a people came together and allowed the great experiment to flourish to this very day. France since the execution of Louis XVI has been a mass mob -republic-, dictatorship, monarchy, and multiple failed republics which ended with the occupation by Germany. The United States has been a republic and pretty much stayed the same as a government body. Yes some changes have happen and it almost came to a end during the civil war but our constitution and rights always prevailed. The French Revolution was what the founding fathers of the United States did not want -mob rule. -

It is anti-climactic that injustice was solved with injustice, King Louis 16th and Marie Antionette, did get what they deserved thinking that the people aren't the ones who make them royalty is awesome, because in reality a leader always should have people, in one way or another. Beheading being seen as enlightenment isn't a 100 percent true in my perspective because for example 1001 Arabian Nights, Utilitarianism is good, but the more people want to use it elsewhere the more people should think about the consequences. How will these make people still stay alive, because with the republic many still died after King Louis 16th, but in 1001 Arabian Nights many women still stayed alive after the King found his new wife. I believe -All life should be respected- -Avatar: The Last Airbender, especially as much as possible.

My teacher hates teaching the French revolution. He says he like when history should be in a time line which I do to because it's easier to understand but it might be the way our bored of education has our teachers teach it but this revolution is all over the place. My teachers hates it because of it. He says it just so much all over the place that doesn't make sense and some of it was useless. It was also kind of a long unit.

10: 57 One potentially important clarification. Napoleon wasn't a commoner, but by this point, most nobles had either renounced their titles of nobility or fled the country.

I don't what your sources are, but the Tennis Court Oath is certainely not what you said.
It was all about ensuring the creation and adoption of a written Constitution.

Perpetuating the -let them eat cake- trope when it-s been so strongly confirmed that this anecdote wasn-t factual.
Crash Course you are truly disappointing

I jumped to this 2019 Video after watching Green's Video of 2012. He seems to have lost that spontaneity and fearless expression. but still his Sarcasm is at best!

Honestly shocked there was no nod to all the failed french revolutions before this (like the one depicted in Les Miserables, for instance)

okay i can not be the only person who noticed that Green's whole vibe is off in this video and like, every single one after it
reply

Urgh. the corny jokes detract from an otherwise brilliant and well-explained video. We're not here for the comedy guys.
