Why Human Evolution Matters: Crash Course Big History 204

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
This week on Crash Course Big History, Emily is talking about process of human evolution, and the knack for innovation that has allowed humans to become so dominant on the Earth. Human innovation, and the ability to build on those innovations generation after generation is what makes humans different than other animals. Collective learning is enabled by our highly evolved and efficient ability to communicate with each other and pass on information. With great power, of course, comes great responsibility, and how we use this powerful tool has kind of a mixed track record

her whole historical perspective is based off an assumed to be true theory that the earth is billions of years old. she herself has no facts that the earth is billions of years old or does she have any knowledge on the big bang but she talks about it as if it is an obvious fact when there are no facts. This is the problem with evolution and why it is a hinderenc because all discovery and research is based around a pre assumed belief. The earth is not billions of years old and we did not evolve we have always been human beings. And the big bang hasn't happened yet.

Natural Selection is like my old internet, it promised 7, 000 times the internet speed, installed it, but then when I visited sites it ate all the cookies on the site reducing my internet speed to half it's original speed. Then I signed up for a new company, they gave me 7, 001 times the internet speed! -does sign language for -please help meee-- It's great! --they're watching my every move-- -slides finger across neck- --help me--.

According to Yuval Noah Harari, writer of 'Sapiens' the niche of humanity was eating leftovers, particularly eating what's inside the bones (that's why we needed tools. I'll check out his source but if it is true indeed, it may be worth mentioning. And now I'm commenting anyway, I would like to thank you for the lessons (if you still read these annoying comments.

I think the main reason for our species to develop ever increasing brains was the competition to navigate complex hierarchies. Basically, that is still true today. Social Status increases your chances to find a mate. The better that primates can manage hierarchies, the bigger the groups that can be supported before they fall appart.

Evolution is a lie until someone can explain how it actually happens and by what magic genetic mutations are suddenly. beneficial. Evolutionists always start with assuming that evolution exists and go from there. This puts evolution in the same arena as people who start talking about Bigfoot without any proof.

I'd love to see a Crash Course on ethology to gain more perspective on our presumed 'superiority' I know humans had made it further in evolution than any other species so far as we know, but we tend to forget how clever the creatures that live by our side are.

I have to thumbs down this video
while it was good it didn't say anything for the remaining common ancestor which are known as the kardashians. Even though they have adapted to their surroundings they still carry many traits that we see in chimps.

Why do evolutionary biologist always start at just the 'single celled organism' point? There was a time when inorganic chemistry ruled this planet. Why does no evolutionary biologist ever discuss abiogenesis? That still makes zero sense to me.
