CALCULUS! Today we take our first steps into the language of Physics; mathematics. Every branch of science has its own way to describe the things that it investigates. And, with Physics, that's math. In this episode, Shini talks us through derivatives and how calculus helps us to understand the world around us

I would like to thank crash course physics, biology, and anatomy & physiology for helping me a lot pass my grade 12. As of now, I am a medicine student at the University of Namibia and I hope you guys can help me get through this course. To be honest really at the moment I miss Physics and Mathematics.

this is like saying you want to learn how to be a pilot and they stick you in the cockpit of the space shuttle already on reentry.
i'm not sure i ever got to calculus in basic non-physics-but-science-major physics, how the hell did you go from arithmetic to calculus in one episode?

Why do you have this as video #2 but keep referring to previous videos that arent there yet. Are they out of sequence? You refer to a speeding ticket we got in a previous video. give the back story instead of editing it until doesnt make sense.

I think the failure in this video is the animation. They are putting the equations up when they should be developing a graphical story of what she is talking about that includes the equations as well.

I'm a little 7th grade child going into Algebra 1 in 8th grade. I barely made the cut to get in. Somehow I am not too confused 7 minutes in. Lol don't ask why I am even trying to understand this.

This is so very difficult to understand. I don't even know what she's talking about I lost it within the first minute to be honest. and where's derivatives from all of this blabbering?
reply

Okay I'm still left with the question of why the derivative of equations with power is that arbitrary where you bring it down and subtract one.

Very poor! As a tutor she is pathetic. Seems more focused on her looks and how fast she can speak and trying to impress rather than convey understanding.

Interesting, but maybe a little too -crashy- crash course. Slow down a little bit and give people a second to absorb what you just said.

This is delivered way too fast. There are no gaps, no chances for the information to sink in. This is just going to give people a headache!
