The Oort Cloud: Crash Course Astronomy #22

Now that we-re done with the planets, asteroid belt, and comets, we-re heading to the outskirts of the solar system. Out past Neptune are vast reservoirs of icy bodies that can become comets if they get poked into the inner solar system. The Kuiper Belt is a donut shape aligned with the plane of the solar system; the scattered disk is more eccentric and is the source of short period comets; and the Oort Cloud which surrounds the solar system out to great distances is the source of long-period comets. These bodies all probably formed closer into the Sun, and got flung out to the solar system-s suburbs by gravitational interactions with the outer planets

Learn well future scientists. This is the best way to present your very own fantasy concerning the evolutionary development of the universe. Did you notice his emphasis on the 'B' every time he said -BILLIONS? - And his excitement level when presenting unknown but very highly desired and hopeful -factoids? - How 'bout all those really keen graphics, eh? Oh yeah, THAT'LL get the prof's attention, for sure. Don't let the proven fact that no one has ever seen the Oort Cloud or any proposed part of the Oort Cloud dissuade you from presenting all your dreams as absolute Facts! Heck, even Oort never saw the Oort Cloud or any particle of it. But, trudge on future scientist! This is the only way to become one of the Big Boys who get to put articles in Science Monthly! And that's how you get to be one of the elite who make the Big Bucks! But remember, your most precious factual evidence, comes from your dreams.

Impact theories are silly, debunked and only remain in existence due to the pathetic failures of academia and all their poorly conceived publishing. Publishing that is tantamount to fraud an should be prosecuted at this point history. Academia needs to admit failure; admit lying for profit and slink off to rethink their lives and process the embarrassment. The human race would like to move on from the academic fraud now.

Where is the ice coming from? Where is the water coming from? Where is the oxygen and hydrogen coming from? To imply that gas was blown out and away from the -big bang theory- is laughable at the least. Solid, gas, liquid, plasma would have been dispersed at most likely evaporated at the speed of light plus. So your wasted breathe makes no sense.

I'm sorry to say that even while the subject matter is profoundly interesting, delivery is a bit too intense and off-putting. It's as if there is a rush to delver info in insufficient time. Does not attract to continue with the same speaker. Since Pluto has been flown by, it would be prudent to update the video as well.

1: 12 -Artist's impression of a protoplanetary disk- I love the subtly of this disclaimer. as though people are out who might believe there were an actual photo taken of this disk. oh wait - people are buying this CV-19 pandemic thing, so perhaps. -

There is no such thing as an Ort Cloud, comets are a delivery system for the Universe, they manifest from outside the universe and propelled into the Universe. They drop their pay load as requested by the plantarty systems and Suns. .

With a crazy, but widely agreed upon theory and a good artist one can convince the public of almost anything.
It is sad to hear the Ort Cloud discussed (as though it has actually been observed) with such certainty.

Well we now know that Pluto is indeed a planet (9, with a rounded appearance, like Earth's. It has three moons, and an atmosphere. Yes it is small, but a planet indeed. So this problem solved by science.
reply

Question. May I ask if it's possible that a very -low mass- brown dwarf might exist a light year closer than Alpha Centauri System? Could that explain the irregular cometary appearances? What are your thoughts?
reply

You said you were going to leave Pluto alone for the moment. That was almost five years ago.
When I search for -Crash Course Astronomy Pluto- today, nothing appears.
Naughty!
