In which John asks whether globalization is a net positive for humanity. While the new global economy has created a lot of wealth, and lifted a lot of people out of poverty, it also has some effects that aren't so hot. Wealth disparity, rising divorce rates, environmental damage, and new paths for the spread of disease. So does all this outweigh the economic benefits, the innovation, and the relative peace that come with interconnected economies? As usual, the answer is not simple. In this case, we're living in the middle of the events we're discussing, so it's hard to know how it's going to turn out Side effects low qualified workers cannot find new jobs due to outsourcing to Asia. Democracy is under threat. Large cooperation define the politics.
So where is the solution to this?

In a World falling into even greater divides, fascism and nationalism getting a second wind, and a global pandemic. This might be the most important episode of the series. Placing all that we have learned in perspective and taking the time (while staying at home) to evaluate our place in history. We all need to have a broader look at the great picture, like when you have to step back and look at a painting. This will prevent us from just concentrating on only a part (and never creating a masterpiece, instead of working towards a cohesive whole.
